Mike Venerable reposted thisMike Venerable reposted thisComplication rates tell you what went wrong. Patient-reported outcomes (PROs) tell you how members really feel about their recovery. That’s why Lantern has made PROs part of its robust approach to quality. Over the past year, Lantern partnered with LainaHealth to collect patient-reported outcomes from before surgery through a full year after. The great news? Lantern members tell us they're getting better. A few results from our first year of collection: ✅ Knee replacement members gained 26 points of function within six months, significantly above the bar clinicians use to call a result meaningful ✅ Hip replacement members gained 35 points of function, with pain down 83% ✅ Hip and knee surgeons in the Lantern network earned a Net Promoter Score of 90 ✅ Bariatric surgery members lost an average of 23% of their total body weight within six months, 2 to 4 times faster than the typical timeline. As for what happens next, we'll continue hearing directly from members about their recovery. And what we learn feeds straight back into how we curate our Network of Excellence. Mike Venerable reposted thisThe best physical therapy in the world doesn't work if you can't get to it. Meet Julie: 56, high school Spanish teacher, total knee replacement. Twelve weeks, 42 sessions, pain down from 6 to 0. Zero trips to a clinic.Mike Venerable reposted this🎥 Patient Case Study: Julie had her knee replaced last August, right as the school year was getting going. She's 56 and teaches high school Spanish. The knee had been failing for years: a torn meniscus, then arthritis, then surgery. She knew she needed physical therapy afterward. She also knew that getting to a clinic on a teacher's schedule wasn't going to happen consistently. So she did her PT with LainaHealth instead. She was paired one on one with a dedicated physical therapist, who built her an interactive care plan she could work through whenever her day allowed. Twelve weeks later: 42 sessions completed Knee pain: Down from 6 to 0 Knee function: 102% Improvement (KOOS JR) 78% lower cost than a traditional outpatient PT episode 0 trips to a clinic "LainaHealth fit into my schedule. After school, on weekends, whenever I could." 👇 Julie's full story is below, in her own words.

Mike Venerable reposted thisMike Venerable reposted thisPatient Case Study: Physical therapy gets complicated when surgery happens in one state and recovery happens in another. That was the case with Stephon, 44, from Atlanta. A car accident left him with a hip fracture that wouldn't heal on its own, leading to hip replacement surgery in Houston. Once back home in Atlanta, there weren’t any physical therapy options connected to his surgeon, and limited mobility made it difficult to find a new in-person clinic to support his recovery. Tech-enabled, virtual PT with LainaHealth closed that gap. Over the next twelve weeks, Stephon experienced: - Direct, consistent access to his licensed clinical physical therapist - A daily therapy plan, guided step-by-step by through the Laina platform - Built-in reminders that kept him accountable, even on weekends After completing his course of care, Stephon’s balance was fully restored and his cane permanently retired. Even his aunt, a physical therapist with 30+ years of experience, was impressed by the level of care. "When I found out my PT could be virtual with LainaHealth, that was exactly what I wanted." Mike Venerable shared thisStacey Barnes was such a great colleague and friend during our shared years at CincyTech. Determined, focused, always seeking to be the best, but with a great sense of humor and tolerance of my disorganized work style! Such a huge contributor to the organization, community, and the world at large. The world needs more like you, Stacey!Mike Venerable shared thisEMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT: STACEY BARNES Today, we feature Stacey Barnes, who leads Business Operations at CincyTech. From helping Cincinnati pursue an Olympic dream to returning to college in her 50s, Stacey has built a remarkable, varied career. From 1996–2001, she worked with the group seeking to bring the 2012 Olympic Games to Cincinnati. The experience showed her what was possible when cities, businesses, sports organizations and people across a region rallied around one ambitious goal. It also gave her a new appreciation for Greater Cincinnati and the power of sports and tourism to transform a region. In 2001, with her two children approaching high school, she stepped away from her career to focus on her family. She became a football mom, cheerleader mom, dog trainer and walker, household manager, quilter and gardener—all while continuing her roles as a wife and mother. When her children left for college, a familiar question surfaced: What’s next? First, she returned to work, helping Nick Vehr launch his own PR firm. Then, in 2009, she went back to finish something she had started more than 30 years earlier: college. As the only student over 50 in her program, she enrolled at Northern Kentucky University. She started in business, but an encounter with algebra sent her toward journalism—and an unexpected new chapter. While writing for The Northerner, NKU’s student newspaper, her article “Love Won’t Keep You Safe” won first place in the Society of Professional Journalists’ regional Mark of Excellence Awards and second place nationally among more than 4,600 entries. In 2013, she graduated cum laude, capped by a study-abroad experience in Barbados. That led to another chapter at the Greater Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber and, in 2016, to CincyTech, where she manages CincyTech’s state reporting and business operations. We salute Stacey for her service to CincyTech and so many other organizations in our region. Mike Venerable liked thisMike Venerable liked thisIn July 2025, Michael Saadine and I wrote about the The O.H.I.O. Fund, a remarkable effort to aggregate and deploy wealth generated in Ohio back into growth opportunities in Cleveland, Columbus, Cincinnati and all parts of the 7th largest state in the U.S. At the time, the Fund’s aspiration was to aggregate over $500M in capital in 3 years from in-state private institutions, corporations, foundations and family offices. It has now raised over $693M in just over 2 years … and deployed $315M across 48 investments and 20 counties in companies, real estate, infrastructure, and funds. This is phenomenal progress, with lessons for places all over the U.S. which tend to export their wealth and ignore investment opportunities in their own backyard. And it only scratches the surface. Ohio’s largest public pension funds, for example, hold approximately $220B and only invest 1-2% in Ohio projects or companies. To understand what’s happening and what it means for other states and metropolitan areas, we talked with the two individuals who catalyzed this organizing of capital — Mark Kvamme , the inaugural director of JobsOhio under Governor John Kasich and Ray Leach, the founding CEO of Cleveland’s JumpStart Inc. Read this interview! The potential for Place Capital is boundless if we think differently about investment opportunities in our communities and organize networks of institutions and people with capital and market knowledge. https://lnkd.in/gehjdmJNPlace Capital: A Conversation with The O.H.I.O. The Signal Every Investor Should Pay Attention To When leading Silicon Valley investors like Vijay Pande (formerly of a16z Bio + Health) and Zack Werner launch a new firm—VZVC—focused exclusively on AI in healthcare, it’s not a coincidence. It’s a signal. A signal that elite capital is doubling down on healthcare AI in 2025, that the market sees real scalability at the intersection of automation, intelligence, and patient impact, and that the next generation of value creation in healthcare will come from AI-enabled efficiency and insight. Mission 3A HealthTech sits precisely at this intersection — where technical innovation meets real-world execution. We believe there is no better investment opportunity than healthcare AI. The sector combines long-term demand stability with massive efficiency gaps — and AI is finally capable of bridging them. As investors chase the next wave, we’re already ahead of it: identifying, validating and investing in these cutting edge companies. We are partnering with surgeons and health systems, and commercializing solutions that drive measurable impact. #HealthcareAI #VentureCapital #Mission3A #DigitalHealth #AI #MedTech #Startups #HealthcareAI #DigitalHealth #MedTech #Mission3A #VentureCapital #AIHealthTech #HealthTechInvesting #ArtificialIntelligence #StartupFunding #FutureOfHealthcare Tempus AI insitro Freenome Stryker PathAI Apple Butterfly Network, Inc. Orange Health Labs has always been committed to six-hour reporting. Not "as fast as possible" but specifically six hours, no exceptions. This one constraint made them build everything differently. They couldn't use standard labs designed for average daily volume - they had to build for peak hourly capacity. They couldn't have doctors at each location, so they built remote pathology, where one doctor reviews slides from multiple cities. They couldn't rely on traditional logistics - so they created dedicated networks covering four times the area of competitors. Now incumbents can't copy it without scrapping their existing infrastructure. They have hundreds of labs built the old way, doctors hired locally, and established logistics. Retrofitting would cost more than starting from scratch, and starting from scratch means abandoning their existing business. I like how Orange Health's edge is that matching their model means incumbents must treat their current infrastructure as sunk cost. This is the kind of advantage that compounds.

A fundraising platform can qualify demand by helping before it sells. Productised readiness and screening services can create that evidence while feeding qualified demand into the managed placement workflow. The funnel compounds when product users, channel partners and mandates feed the same intelligence layer. Product-Led Placement RAISE uses capital readiness and investor screening as practical on-ramps to the wider platform. These products are built from the same matching, scoring and relationship engine used in placement activity. A trusted product interaction can make the later placement decision more informed for both sides. The On-Ramp Strategy That gives the company a customer-acquisition route based on delivered value rather than broad marketing alone. Useful Before Sales The market insight is practical. Relationship-heavy processes still benefit from better data and clearer operating discipline. The platform is designed for private equity, real estate and infrastructure fundraising workflows. Regulated execution is intended to take place through licensed partners in the relevant jurisdictions. The company is addressing a process that managers already understand and repeatedly need to solve. RAISE is raising capital and looking for investors. See company website https://raiseplatform.eu and then DM me for more info. Is trust the conversion layer that institutional software often forgets?

This Should Work… Investments in healthcare technology should work. There can be a legitimate debate about the wisdom of the magnitude of overall AI investment activity, now estimated to be $320 billion just in 2025, but undoubtedly most will see significant healthcare benefits from this infrastructure buildout. But there may also be merit to the argument that certain knock-on effects of AI will undermine for some improvements in the quality of life. At a minimum, it is not entirely clear that the agentic arms race unfolding between payors and providers will entirely help patients versus improving the economics of the combatants. Investor excitement in healthcare AI is reflected in digital health investment activity, notwithstanding challenges to reconcile the more modest valuation multiples for publicly traded companies with those of lofty private market multiples. According to Rock Health, year-to-date $9.9 billion has been invested in 351 companies. For 3Q25, $3.5 billion was invested in 107 companies putting the sector on pace to have ~$14 billion invested in around 450 companies, which would signify an encouraging recovery closer to 2022 levels. Thoughts on what to expect next... https://lnkd.in/ef5s2jJF Flare Capital Partners #digitalhealth

Vy Capital just led OneImaging's $38M combined seed/Series A—one of the largest early-stage healthtech rounds this month. Why this deal matters for the #healthtech ecosystem: OneImaging is tackling a $100B+ problem: fragmented medical imaging systems that cost hospitals millions in inefficiencies. Their unified platform connects disparate imaging systems, making patient data actually accessible when it matters most. What caught our attention about this round: • Vy Capital's involvement signals serious institutional confidence in healthcare infrastructure plays • Aquiline and Sempervirens Venture Capital joined—showing both fintech-focused and healthcare-specialist investors see the opportunity • The combined seed/Series A structure ($38M total) shows strong early traction and investor conviction For healthtech #founders, this validates three critical elements #investors want to see: • Clear regulatory pathway (OneImaging's approach works within existing healthcare frameworks) • Massive TAM with proven willingness to pay (hospitals spend billions on imaging infrastructure) • Network effects that create defensibility (more systems connected = more valuable platform) Healthcare moves slowly, but when infrastructure #investments hit this scale at seed/Series A stage, it signals the market is ready for transformation. We're seeing similar patterns across #medtech and digital health—investors are writing larger early-stage checks for companies solving genuine operational pain points, not just consumer health apps. What's your take on healthcare infrastructure vs. consumer healthtech for 2025-2026?

Distribution is becoming the moat in healthcare AI Anthropic’s recent Claude for Healthcare update was a good example: the main features were not focused on model performance, it was connectivity, making Claude usable inside the healthcare enterprise stack. The main drops were: -> Coverage rules (CMS Coverage Database connector): check whether a treatment is reimbursable and under what conditions -> Coding (ICD-10 connector): translate clinical language into billing/diagnosis codes -> Provider verification (NPI Registry connector): validate provider identity for credentialing and claims -> Prior Authorization Agent: assemble documentation and rationale for approvals/appeals -> Interoperability tooling: make it easier to plug into health IT systems This shift creates real opportunity for founders. Healthcare is fragmented by country, system, and workflow, so teams that can embed applications deeply in specific workflows can build meaningful markets, even from narrow starting points.
