ES2025 is official! The 16th edition of ECMAScript (the standard that defines JavaScript) has been officially approved by Ecma International. This update brings a host of powerful new features: 0️⃣ Iterator Helpers: We can now call methods like .map(), .filter(), .take(), and .toArray() directly on any iterable (not just arrays!). This allows for more memory-efficient data processing by avoiding the creation of intermediate arrays. 1️⃣ Native Set Operations: ES2025 introduces native methods for Set objects, including union(), intersection(), difference(), symmetricDifference(), isSubsetOf(), isSupersetOf(), and isDisjointFrom(). 2️⃣ Native JSON Modules: Importing JSON files has standardized syntax - import config from './config.json' with { type: 'json' };. This simplifies a common workflow by eliminating the need for fetch or file system reads followed by JSON.parse(). 3️⃣ RegExp.escape() & Enhancements: a native way to escape strings for use in regular expressions, helping to prevent security vulnerabilities like ReDoS attacks. This release also includes inline modifiers for changing regex flags within a pattern and better support for named capture groups. 4️⃣ Promise.try(): This new static method on Promise provides a clean way to start a promise chain with a function that might throw a synchronous error. It wraps the execution in a promise, catching any exceptions and turning them into a rejected promise, which can simplify our async error handling. 5️⃣ Float16Array: A new TypedArray for half-precision 16-bit floating-point numbers. This is a significant addition for performance-critical applications like graphics programming, scientific computing, and machine learning, where we can trade some precision for a smaller memory footprint and faster calculations. 🔥 This is a powerful release focused on reducing boilerplate and improving the developer experience. 🔥 We can start experimenting with most of these features today in the latest versions of Node.js, Deno, and modern browsers, or by using Babel. I can’t stress this enough: To become a Senior engineer you don’t need to complicate things. What you need is to focus your efforts on being pragmatic, business-oriented, and solution-oriented. I’ve seen too many talented mid-level devs shooting themselves in the foot by: 👉🏻Adding unnecessary abstraction layers “for future flexibility” 🤦‍♂️ 👉🏻Implementing design patterns that solve problems that don’t exist 👉🏻Building “elegant” solutions that take 3x longer to ship. Meanwhile, senior devs are out there asking the right questions: 👉🏻”Whats the simplest solution that works?” 👉🏻”What are we actually optimizing for?” 👉🏻”Will this help the business or just my ego?” Your promotion isn’t blocked by lack of complexity, actually it’s blocked by too much of it. Save your creative energy for problems that actually need complex solutions.

Hi! Long time no see! Today, I want to share a great tool for JVM language teachers. I personally use it for Kotlin, but it also works well for Java for example 👩‍🏫 One common challenge when teaching programming theory is switching between multiple screens. I usually have a presentation open in a browser with slides and images, plus an IDE for demonstrating examples. Additionally, students often struggle to run examples from the slides at home because complex examples require hidden contextual code I’ve found Kotlin Notebooks to be a great solution for this! If you’ve ever used Jupyter Notebooks for Python, you’ll understand the concept. This tool lets you combine everything in one place, images, theory, live examples, and the ability to add new examples on the fly. I’ve attached a small example showing how easily you can visualize each step of a sequence of calls when working with Kotlin collections. Plus, since it’s used within an IDE, it supports AI tools like error explanations and code generation with AI agents 🤔 I’ve used notebooks for traditional programming classes, but now I’m exploring ways to integrate AI-based tools into them to enhance my lectures and help students learn at home. UPDATE: New version throws an error when you try to document Flows. Apparently I made a mistake during my testing before releasing this version and didn't catch this problem.... Issue has been identified, waiting for the maintainer of another package to correct it. PowerDocu 2.4.0 has been released just now! I actually wanted to publish the next version only once I've the documentation for Copilot Studio agents completed (getting there....), but as Edwin T. informed me about a security issue last week, I quickly moved to get a smaller release done. First of all, let's talk about the security issue: I'm using the Newtonsoft package for managing JSON (lots of JSON to be parsed as part of the apps and Flows definitions). An advisory was published late last year (https://lnkd.in/gvM--8Ji), recommending only to use TypeNameHandling.None when serializing/deserializing JSON. As I used TypeNameHandling.All, this resulted in the following risk: Maliciously modified Solutions/ZIP files containing apps/Flows could have been used to execute code on the user's laptop with their privileges. Generally, the risk for this should be relatively low: most people export the solutions/ZIP files from the Power Apps/Power Automate portal themselves, thus no malicious instructions are embedded in the JSON. However, someone could obviously update the ZIP file and send it to somebody else to get it documented. Again, in my opinion a very rare and extreme scenario, but still something that should be considered. Thus, this problem has been corrected in this latest release. The second change that should be mentioned is that a small button has been added which appears after the documentation process has completed. Selecting the button will open the folder in which the solution/ZIP file and the subfolders containing the documentation are located. #powerdocu #powerplatform #powerapps #powerautomate https://lnkd.in/gKpcqMzy

The internet revolution 🌐 changed software roles forever. Now, AI is doing it again. 🤖 Remember before the internet? We had so many more roles: requirements engineers, program managers, project managers, testers, UX designers, architects - everywhere! Now there are only a few to find in most companies. Competition and the need for speed pushed us to simplify. Companies moved to two main roles: ➡️ Product Manager 🧑‍💼 ➡️ Software Engineer 🧑‍💻 The same is happening now with AI. The number of roles will shrink again before it expands. I believe we will see two new, main roles emerge soon. 1️⃣ Product Engineer This role will mix Product Management and Development. They will manage AIs, write code when needed, do requirements engineering, and drive features from business needs. A true end-to-end owner! 💪 2️⃣ AI Ops This role will combine DevOps, Data Scientists, and Data Engineers. They will manage MCP gateways, data plumbing, integrate data sources, and run the AI pipelines and models. 🛠️ Why? Because business needs speed and flexibility. Fewer, broader roles are easier to hire and manage. As before, this revolution will shuffle roles and responsibilities around until they fit the new drivers. 🔄 What do you think?
