Ramanan Raghavendran shared thisSo many threads came together at this wonderful event for the Center for East Asian Studies at Penn Arts & Sciences, hosted at The Wharton School West campus in San Francisco. Special thanks to my classmate Lolita Jackson MBE FRSA for inviting me!Ramanan Raghavendran shared thisIt was wonderful to see two entities I hold dear, University of Pennsylvania and U.S.-Japan Leadership Program come together last week at The Wharton School West in San Francisco. The Penn Center for East Asian Studies sponsored this great event to coincide with the USJLP conference in Palo Alto, to highlight Penn’s longtime relationship with Japan (the first Japanese student arrived at Penn in the late 1800s) and its continuing commitment to East Asia, and specifically Japan. I was thrilled to help emcee and introduce my classmate, Penn Trustee Chair Ramanan Raghavendran Eng’89 W’89 LPS’15, who gave wonderful remarks to the crowd. Both the USJLP fellows and Penn alums had a wonderful time. We were also joined by my dear longtime friend and Penn Trustee Vice Chair Marc McMorris C’90 WG’94. Perry World House Penn Global

Ramanan Raghavendran reposted thisRamanan Raghavendran reposted thisMillions of people across more than 20 U.S. states are breathing unhealthy air this week as smoke from nearly 900 active #CanadianWildfires, combined with #wildfires in Minnesota, drifts across the Northeast. Our hearts go out to the communities in Ontario and beyond facing evacuations, and to the fire crews working around the clock to contain these blazes. For everyone downwind, we know how unsettling it is to see orange skies and wonder what it means for your family's health. We want to help in the way we can: by sharing what the #AirQuality data shows and the resources that can help you stay safe. What our sensor networks are seeing: 🔸 In Chicago, nearly all 277 sensors in the Open Air Chicago network registered "Hazardous" AQI levels on Thursday 🔸 Breathe Philly sensors recorded "Unhealthy" readings across Philadelphia 🔸 Networks in Washington, DC, Detroit, and Ann Arbor captured similar conditions as the smoke moved through A few ways to protect yourself and your loved ones: ✔️ Check real-time AQI before heading outside (AirNow Fire and Smoke Map or Clarity OpenMap) ✔️ When AQI reaches "Unhealthy," limit time outdoors and run an air purifier inside ✔️ Wear an N95/KN95 mask if going outside is unavoidable ✔️ Take extra care with children, older adults, pregnant women, and anyone with respiratory conditions ✔️ Watch for heat-related health effects alongside smoke exposure We've compiled the full picture, including maps, #AirPollution sensor data, and a downloadable wildfire preparedness checklist, in the post below here: 🔗 https://lnkd.in/gFY9gtNc Stay safe out there. #WildfireSmoke #PublicHealth #AQIHow are the Canadian wildfires impacting U.S. air quality? How are the Canadian wildfires impacting U.S. air quality?

Ramanan Raghavendran liked thisRamanan Raghavendran liked thisHot take: a query that runs can still be wrong. That is the problem with treating enterprise analytics as a Text-to-SQL challenge. In real organizations, the hard part is not just generating a valid query. It is resolving the right team, metric, time range, and permissions, then enforcing the business rules that make the answer trustworthy. New Dialpad research introduces Analytic Agent, an agentic system that turns natural-language questions into secure interactions with governed enterprise analytics APIs. On 90 expert-curated enterprise use cases, the system achieved: 🔹 96.67% query execution success with Gemini 2.5 Pro 🔹 77.22% end-to-end accuracy 🔹 71.67% end-to-end accuracy with Gemini 2.5 Flash, the production choice for its balance of reliability and efficiency The takeaway: enterprise AI should not treat the LLM as the source of business logic. It should use the LLM to plan over the governed systems that already define, protect, and audit the business. 👉 Learn more at: https://lnkd.in/eJjaFr_J 👉 Read the research: https://lnkd.in/e69S5W9H 👉 Check out Dialpad’s AI Research program: https://lnkd.in/gbuyUWK9 #AgenticAI #EnterpriseAI #Analytics #Governance #AIResearch

Today, the largest source of electricity generation globally is coal, followed by natural gas and hydropower. Solar PV, meanwhile, is expanding rapidly. In 2026, electricity generation from solar is set to increase by around 600 TWh – matching 2025’s record. As a result, solar is on track to become the world’s second-largest source of renewable electricity generation this year, surpassing wind power. And together, renewables are expected to generate more electricity than coal in 2026 after reaching near parity with it last year. Ramanan Raghavendran liked thisRamanan Raghavendran liked thisMethane isn't included in the WHO's air quality guidelines, but its impact on air quality is real. Methane is a potent greenhouse gas and is responsible for 35% of the world's harmful ozone. Detecting and reducing these emissions requires air quality monitoring. Turning that data into cleaner air means pairing detection with effective mitigation strategies, whether that's fixing leaks, improving livestock diets, or strengthening regulation. https://lnkd.in/eNRUTdmp #GlobalWarming #PublicHealth #GreenhouseGas #MethaneMethane monitoring 101: Detect, measure & mitigate emissions | ClarityMethane monitoring 101: Detect, measure & mitigate emissions | Clarity

Xora Innovation has led Hang Ten Systems’ additional $53M Seed-2 funding round, bringing the company’s total funding to $85M. We’re proud to invest alongside Navin Chaddha at Mayfield, Aramco Ventures, Lip-Bu Tan, Sanjay Mehrotra, and others — and to welcome Jerry Yang to the board. We believe the gap between enterprises that use AI to real advantage and those that do not will increasingly define entire industries. As access to leading models becomes more widespread, the hard part is making AI work in the systems and workflows that actually run an enterprise: connecting models and agents to proprietary data and systems of record, rebuilding applications and workflows around their capabilities, and putting the security, controls, evaluation, and reliability required for production use in place. This is difficult because enterprise technology rarely operates in a greenfield environment. Most organizations have deeply interconnected estates of packaged software, custom applications, legacy systems, integrations, and business processes built up over decades. Capturing the full value of AI therefore requires changing not only that software, but also how it is built, modified, and operated. But AI is also changing the economics of transforming that estate. Hang Ten is built around this shift, with a delivery model fundamentally different from traditional, headcount-heavy enterprise services. The company combines agentic code generation and reusable AI skills with small teams of engineers who bring deep domain expertise — enabling them to move faster and deliver 10× more value on existing software development and transformation programs. The early traction is strong. Within weeks of founding, Hang Ten signed multiple engagements with global enterprises, with projects already in production and several successfully completed. We’re backing Vishal Sikka because he is one of the rare leaders who combines deep technical understanding of enterprise software and AI with firsthand experience navigating the organizational and operating complexity of transformation at scale. He has spent his career doing exactly that — from serving as SAP’s first CTO and leading the development of SAP HANA to serving as CEO of Infosys. Vishal and the Hang Ten team are now applying that experience to build a fundamentally different model for the global technology services industry. We’re excited to deepen our partnership with Vishal, Navin Budhiraja, Sanjay Rajagopalan, Tao Liu, Frank Yu, Yusuf Safdari, Pradeep K Panicker and the entire Hang Ten Systems team as they build what we believe can become a defining company in enterprise technology services. Check out what the team is building in this TechCrunch exclusive (link in first comment).

𝗧𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳 𝗹𝗮𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻 𝗔𝗜𝗙? 𝗜𝘁’𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗮 𝗰𝗼𝗽𝘆-𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲 𝗲𝘅𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗲. I sat down with Lion Amirr Virani on The Koffee Conversation Show to discuss the practical realities of launching an AIF—specifically for fund managers who are navigating the transition from a strategy to a structured entity. You can watch the full breakdown here: https://lnkd.in/gcjkBDJJ After structuring 50+ funds, I’ve seen that the first time fund managers often start with a belief that "structuring an AIF" is a clerical exercise but end up realizing it is an architectural challenge. We tackled the questions that actually matter to a Fund manager long-term success: 𝟭. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 "𝗪𝗵𝘆" 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 "𝗛𝗼𝘄": Why do you actually need an AIF? We discussed why this flexible structure isn't for everyone and how to avoid over-complicating your vehicle before you’ve even made your first call for capital. 𝟮. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗚𝗶𝗳𝘁 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘃𝘀. 𝗗𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗗𝗶𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗺𝗮: We broke down the rule of thumb for choosing a jurisdiction. Is your capital global or local? Your answer changes your entire structural foundation. 𝟯. 𝗔𝗜𝗙𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗙𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝘆 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀: How sophisticated family-managed businesses are using AIFs to "ring-fence" their wealth , use QIB status and create professional investment verticals that operate like institutional platforms. It was a great session, moving past the theory and into the practical realities of what it takes to run a fund today. 𝗙𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗺𝘆 𝗻𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸: What is the one structural hurdle you wish someone had told you about before you launched your first scheme? Let’s share some insights below. #AIF #FundManagers #GiftCity #VentureCapital #PrivateEquity #AssetManagement #FamilyOffice

This article, co-authored by Vardaan Ahluwalia and me lays out India's significant new Research Development and Innovation Fund initiative in the context of other successful interventions: when governments and the private sector work together, they can make a transformative difference to deep technology entrepreneurship. Equally, initiatives to help manage financial risk should be followed by structural reforms in areas ranging from intellectual property regulation, ease of clearances for start-ups, tax rationalization in capital gains and options that helps start-ups attract talent, and a visa regime that attracts leading global researchers. https://lnkd.in/gk92YSZa
