The problem is decades ago it was established that secure parts do not make for secure system. Peter Neumann's 2004 report is one good source for that, https://lnkd.in/gGPeqyx7. But systems thinkers would realize that without reading Neumann - security is an emergent property. Bottom line is that judging some component such as software as secure can only be done in context of use. Just another way compliance is not secure. That pilot was more than just a milestone; it was the foundation of a much larger vision: 🛒 A one-stop-shop for safety personnel 🛡️ A unified platform for inspections, investigations & crash reporting 🌱 Transform safety workload spread out over 13 applications On Monday, we took a major step towards realizing this vision as launched New Entrant Audits, our first investigative feature, to 11 states. Today, SafeSpect is used by: 35+ jurisdictions for inspections, All states for crash reporting; and 11 states (and growing) for investigations. 👏 Kudos to my co-conspirators: Pavan Pidugu, John Lohmeyer and John Smoot; and thank you to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration teams, state partners, and public servants driving this forward. The Mindless VA Is Dead. Long Live the Specialist. As of today across our companies, we stopped drawing artificial lines between “VAs” and “specialists.” Doesn't matter whether you're in the U.S. or abroad, whether you're young or experienced, or whether English is your first language. What matters is your competency. Can you: ** Make and process video content that tells stories and drives action? ** Understand client needs and communicate them clearly? ** Speak empathetically with AIs to get quality outputs? Jack Wendt and I have been traveling through 8 countries over the last 3 weeks—spotty Wi-Fi, 9 time zones ahead of our usual rhythm—and yet we’re still delivering for clients. Because we understand the work, the context, and how to leverage AI to multiply our impact. Fiverr-style tasks can be done by the AI, supervised by A Players. Smaller teams of A Players are using AI to 100X their value. If you're an A Player, you love this shift that's happening. Why shouldn't a rockstar in Manila earn like a rockstar in Milwaukee?

The DoD has long struggled with buying software. Over the years, it has made every mistake a software customer can make. That’s not unusual. Software procurement is not easy. Many other large organizations have flubbed too. If some of these remendations are accepted there is real hope for improvement. Software literate didn’t mean able to code, said Sweatt. “It means knowing the right questions to ask, understanding what the limitations [of a software package] are, the inputs, outputs and dependencies, without needing necessarily to be able to understand the bits and bytes…”
