Stefano Curti shared thisCHINA BEAUTY IS RE-ACCELERATING China’s beauty market is emerging as a relative bright spot in an otherwise weak consumer economy. Cosmetics sales rose 6% (to $46B) in the first eight months of 2026, versus only 1% growth in overall retail sales. The recovery is increasingly multi-channel. Online beauty across Taobao, Tmall, JD.com and Douyin grew 6%, while offline beauty returned to 2% growth. Importantly, Tmall is growing again, while Douyin remains strong but is decelerating. There is also a clear category divide between international and Chinese brands. International brands dominate skincare, holding 8 of the top 10 online positions While Chinese brands are winning more decisively in makeup, fragrance and beauty tools, where sales grew 13%. China beauty isn't simply “recovering.” The market is becoming more fragmented by category, price point and channel. Premiumization remains a growth engine, physical retail is becoming relevant again, and neither international nor domestic brands are winning everywhere. The opportunity in China is returning…. #beautyindustry #china

Stefano Curti shared thisTHE DARK SIDE OF THE LONGEVITY OBSESSION The commercial opportunity of longevity is enormous. Articles cite estimates valuing longevity and wellness biotech at almost $5 billion currently, potentially reaching $15.6 billion by 2032. Health span is becoming a kind of luxury good and status symbol But the pursuit of living longer may be going too far. Doctors are seeing a rise in “longevity fixation”: people obsessively tracking biomarkers, taking dozens of supplements, experimenting with peptides, and structuring their entire lives around optimization. The paradox? The stress of trying to live longer may undermine the very health benefits we are chasing. Perhaps the most overlooked longevity intervention isn't another supplement, test or protocol. It’s relationships, happiness and social connection. The goal shouldn't simply be more years. It should be more good years — without forgetting to live the ones we already have. #beautyindustry #longevity

Stefano Curti shared thisTikTok Shop and Beauty TikTok Shop has evolved from a social-commerce experiment into a major beauty retail and demand-generation platform, now ranking #4 in U.S. health and beauty e-commerce, behind Amazon, Walmart and Target. Reporting this past weeks clearly states that its operating model is fundamentally different from traditional e-commerce. Creators, content volume and algorithmic discovery—not brand-owned media or search—drive performance. For 8 of the top 10 beauty brands, creators generate more than 90% of GMV. Scale matters enormously. Medicube generated 125,000 videos and 27,000 livestreams in one month, producing roughly $20 million in GMV. But creator quality matters too: of 634,000+ beauty affiliates, fewer than 0.3% are elite L3+ creators, making recruitment and retention of top creators a critical capability. TikTok increasingly functions as a top-of-funnel discovery engine, stimulating demand that ultimately converts across TikTok, Amazon, DTC and traditional retail. With 7–12% of users' feeds already containing TikTok Shop content, commerce is increasingly embedded directly into entertainment and discovery. The strategic shift: OLD: Brand → Advertising → Consumer → Retailer NEW: Brand → Creators → Algorithm → Discovery → Demand → TikTok Shop + Amazon + DTC + Retail TikTok Shop should no longer be managed simply as social media or influencer marketing. It is becoming a hybrid of media, retail, affiliate sales and demand generation—and creators are effectively becoming a new distributed sales force. #beautyindustry

Stefano Curti shared thisTHE BEAUTY ‘MINI’ BOOM Miniature/travel-size formats have moved from sampling tools to standalone profit centers. Circana data shows mini/travel prestige fragrance units up 15% — nearly 4x the growth rate of full-size. Mini makeup has hit ~$700M in the US, up 13% YoY. Retailers are treating minis as permanent merchandising real estate, not seasonal displays. 3 converging forces: - Discovery is monetized, not given away. Trial used to be a cost center (free samples driving future conversion). Minis flip that: retailers now sell the trial experience directly. - Loyalty has shifted from single-SKU commitment to rotation. 71% of fragrance buyers no longer claim a "signature scent"; 83% actively want to experiment. Consumers are building "fragrance wardrobes”, mood- and occasion-based, not brand-based. - Minis drive basket incrementality, not cannibalization. The unresolved problem: Minis are packaging-inefficient per ounce but may reduce total product waste by preventing full-size mis-purchases. Mini is a distribution and margin-structure shift. Risk/Reward: - Reward: Minis are a lower-CAC acquisition funnel with real margin (this is a sold SKU, not a giveaway) and built-in incrementality. - Risk: Margin dilution if minis are priced as pure loss-leaders rather than modeled as standalone profitable SKUs; packaging cost/complexity scales non-linearly at small format; ESG exposure if the packaging-inefficiency critiques gain momentum. Fragrance first (highest velocity data, clearest wardrobe-behavior shift), then haircare/skincare multitaskers. And push permanent mini architecture into core retail sets, not just travel/holiday planograms. #beautyindustry

Stefano Curti shared thisHAVE MEN BECOME ‘HIGH MAINTENANCE' ? Pinterest and Beauty Matter data signal the rise of the “high-maintenance man,” led primarily by Gen Z. But this is not about lengthy, complicated routines. Men increasingly want streamlined self-care combined with sophisticated, high-performance products. Key trends include: 1. Men’s skincare is becoming habitual: searches for men’s skincare products rose 280%, while interest in SPF, scalp care, red-light masks and “no-makeup makeup” also surged. 2. Hair and beard grooming are becoming highly specific and fashion-driven, with major growth in wolf cuts, Korean two-block styles, perms, mullets and precision fades. 3. Male beauty is expanding beyond traditional grooming into complexion products, nail art and other forms of personal expression. 4. Fragrance is becoming a wardrobe rather than a single-product purchase. Men increasingly want scent collections organized around mood, season and occasion. 5. Self-care is connecting with a broader lifestyle shift toward running clubs, wellness retreats, hosting, crafts and screen-free hobbies. Now men want fewer, simple steps, but not less sophistication. Grooming is now reshaped around four ideas: efficacy, aesthetics, personalization and self-expression. #beautyindustry BeautyMatter Pinterest

Stefano Curti shared thisDOSSIER JOINS THE FRAGRANCE CREATORS ASSOCIATION Fragrance Creators Adds Its Newest Member as the Category's Expansion Draws a New Generation of Companies Into Industry Advocacy Fragrance Creators Association (FCA), the trade association representing the full fragrance value chain, today announced that DOSSIER, the New York-based fragrance brand known for making accessible fine fragrances, has joined the association. Founded in 2019, Dossier has become one of the most closely watched growth stories in fragrance, pairing French perfumery craftsmanship with a digitally native, social first model. Its Impressions, Originals, and Home collections are available online and at national retailers. The company recently entered a new phase of growth in partnership, naming award-winning, veteran beauty executive STEFANO CURTI as Executive Chairman. "Fragrance is experiencing a generational surge, driven by consumers who know scent as integral to identity and wellbeing - and Dossier has been at the forefront of widening access to that experience," said Farah K. Ahmed, President & CEO, Fragrance Creators Association. "Growth of this magnitude raises the policy stakes for the entire value chain, from the science behind new molecules to ingredient and formulation regulation to trade and market access. Dossier's decision to engage at the industry level speaks to the seriousness of its leadership, and I am pleased to welcome them to Fragrance Creators." "We built Dossier on a simple conviction: everyone deserves access to exceptional fragrance, without the markups and the pretense," said Sergio Tache, Founder & CEO, Dossier. "Delivering on that promise depends on smart, science-based policy that protects consumers while preserving the industry's ability to innovate. Joining Fragrance Creators gives us a seat at the table where those decisions are shaped, alongside the most respected companies in our value chain." "Across more than two decades leading global beauty businesses, I've seen firsthand that unified, credible industry advocacy is not a luxury - it's a growth imperative," said Stefano Curti, Executive Chairman, DOSSIER. "Fragrance Creators has a proven record of results in Washington, and its leadership is unmatched. As DOSSIER scales, there is no better partner to help us navigate the regulatory landscape and champion the future of fragrance." As a member, Dossier joins companies from across the value chain in advancing FCA's policy priorities, including modernization of EPA's new chemicals program under the Toxic Substances Control Act, FDA's implementation of the Modernization of Cosmetics Regulation Act, trade and tariff relief, and science-based approaches to ingredient policy in the states. Stefano Curti liked thisStefano Curti liked thisFrom innovation to acceleration. Big things are happening at Capsum. MakeUp in New York will be the opportunity to discover “the new us” in the U.S. → Capsum kkt The joining of KKT Labs with Capsum is about much more than expanding capabilities. It brings together strong formulation expertise, advanced technology and industrial capabilities to create a more powerful platform for bringing better beauty innovation to market faster. With a new R&D lab coming soon to Austin, we can work even closer to the U.S. market and move from a consumer need or brand ambition to a targeted, scientifically driven solution with greater speed and precision. The goal is simple: better formulas, better performance and fewer compromises. More sophisticated delivery systems, more measurable results and solutions that are truly relevant to the consumer. This is what makes Capsum kkt exciting: connecting science, technology and formulation expertise to accelerate innovation from idea to market. I’m looking forward to sharing this next chapter at MakeUp in New York, September 16–17. Come meet the team at Booth C43 and discover the new Capsum kkt.

Yes, companies will do the same work with far fewer people. That part is real. But that's only half the story. The people who lean into AI now become the ones everyone else turns to. They rethink the work itself, instead of just grinding out more hours. In every company right now, there's an open invitation to be the person leading the change. And it's not reserved for the technical or the gifted. Whatever your role, you can become the breakthrough leader where you work. It comes down to a mindset, and a few practices anyone can build. Peter and I walked through exactly how. If you'd rather lead this shift than watch it happen to you, this is the roadmap. Watch the full conversation: https://lnkd.in/gskTTHzu

Stefano Curti liked thisStefano Curti liked thisLeaving the family business hurt more than building my own. My family has carved #cameos since 1857. They gave me a craft, an eye, a world. But I couldn’t see myself spending my life making what was already expected of me. When I left to start a new journey with Roberto Faraone Mennella , I was made to feel I was betraying them. I carried that guilt for years. I loved my family. I also wanted to find out who I could become away from them. New York City offered me the stage for my new aspirations. We built FARAONE MENNELLA by RFMAS Mennella. With AMEDEO, I took the cameo somewhere less polite, possibly weird and definitely unexpected and never-done-before . I loved making those pieces. Then came the thought: what if nobody buys them? Back home, I felt like the strange one making things nobody had asked for. Many of those cameo makers who dismissed my work or largely pretended to ignore it, later started making their own clumsy versions of my work. It made me proud. Apparently, the strange one had seen something. Being independent means paying for your own experiments—and your mistakes. Even after everything I’ve built, that fear hasn’t entirely gone. But I get to make work I believe in. People choose it, wear it, collect it. I still feel like an outsider. At least now I feel like myself. #CreativeEntrepreneurship #FamilyBusiness #DesignInnovation #ItalianCraftsmanship #AMEDEO

The revolution of technology in the Longevity and Wellness space. The #Longevity trend is taking center stage in the Wellness industry. Many brands are launching supplements, skincare products and services focused on better aging and health optimization. In my view, the growing accessibility of personal health data through health-tracking accessories is triggering a real revolution in Wellness. And it’s only the beginning. As prices drop and convenience improves, health-tracking devices are going mainstream. You can now access your personal data through your phone, watch, or ring. ➡️ These devices are platforms highly valuable insights which will increasingly be connected to a vast ecosystem of products and services. As technology advances, these trackers are no longer niche gadgets for early adopters. They’re becoming more precise, expanding the range of data they monitor daily. Consumers suddenly have the opportunity to proactively optimize their wellbeing with real insights. ➡️ Brands should seriously consider gearing up for these new expectations. It’s about customization at scale. Wellness is becoming data-evidenced, shifting from “how do you feel?” to “what does the data reveal?”. ➡️ Brands and service providers can now focus on measurable outcomes beyond just compelling marketing concepts. They can move from pure consumables to data-driven solutions. This convergence of technology and wellness is a new kind of hybridation allowing tech innovators and wellness companies to collaborate on powerful new products and services. ➡️ Those who move first will gain a decisive advantage. 👉 I’m happy to help founders, CEOs and investors navigate this shift and design not just new product lines, but entire business models. #Devices #WellnessTech #HealthData #BeautyInnovation #WellnessBusiness #FutureOfWellbeing (Link to the article: https://lnkd.in/eedtC5dk)

Across retail, a clear recent trend is emerging: Shoppers are cutting back on everyday basics while increasing spend in prestige beauty, wellness, and experiential products that feel premium, effective, and emotionally meaningful. This pattern of selective premiumization has accelerated over the past year and is now reshaping how growth happens. To stay competitive, brands must use data and AI to understand where customers truly see value — then communicate that value with stronger product proof, elevated experiences, and pricing that reflects real intent. The companies that understand where today’s consumer splurges vs. saves will lead the next wave of retail performance.
