Sheila Cox shared thisAfter 30+ years in the maritime, transportation and logistics industry, I finally checked a career first off the list: going up in a container crane! It was an incredible perspective and I was able to see all of Blount Island from an aerial view. Grateful for the opportunity and for the many people and experiences that have shaped my career along the way. Thank you to my colleagues Chelsea Kavanagh and Kimberly Norman, M.A. for encouraging me on this adventure 🚢🏗️

Sheila Cox reposted thisSheila Cox reposted this🚁 Big lift. Bigger impact. Helicopters have begun supporting the next phase of the Fulton Cut Power Line Project, a key investment that will increase the air draft at JAXPORT's Blount Island Marine Terminal. Raising the transmission lines will allow larger container ships to call Jacksonville, strengthening our supply chain, growing international trade and supporting 15,000 jobs connected to container cargo in Northeast Florida. Thanks to our partners at JEA, the Florida Department of Transportation, and the City of Jacksonville for helping move this transformational project forward. Read more: https://bit.ly/4pJ5ujf

Sheila Cox reposted thisSheila Cox reposted thisA ribbon cut, a milestone reached, and a major investment in Jacksonville’s future 🚗 JAXPORT, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, and Florida Department of Transportation joined Southeast Toyota Distributors, LLC to celebrate the grand opening of the company’s new 380,000 square foot vehicle processing facility on our Blount Island terminal. The site processes, accessorizes and distributes vehicles to 178 dealerships across a five-state region. Dealers in this region sell approximately 20% of all Toyotas sold in the country. “Facilities like this position us to support Toyota’s continued growth while strengthening our ability to serve our dealer network and its incredible customers.” - Brent T. Sergot, President of Southeast Toyota Distributors. “This state-of-the-art facility strengthens Jacksonville’s position as a premier vehicle-handling port in the Southeastern U.S., supporting quality jobs and economic opportunity for our region and state.” - Eric Green, CEO of JAXPORT. The $170 million facility can handle up to 4,000 vehicles per week—nearly doubling previous capacity—while supporting more than 400 full-time jobs, with the majority hired locally. #jaXportpartners JM Family Enterprises, Inc. Stronger supply chains. ⚓🌎 As more ocean carriers adopt alternative fuels like Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), JAXPORT continues to support the industry's transition to lower-emission shipping. JAXPORT partners TOTE Maritime Puerto Rico and Crowley have helped lead this transition, operating LNG-powered vessels between Jacksonville and San Juan and demonstrating how cleaner fuels can support reliable cargo service. Sheila Cox liked thisI’m honored to serve on the SelectFlorida Board and as Chair of the Gateways Advisory Council. It’s always great to bring our airports, seaports, spaceports, and the logistics partners that connect them into one room. This integrated network is how Florida trades, why companies plant a flag here, and how good jobs are created in the communities around those gateways. The task is straightforward: make it more attractive for private companies to invest capital and create payroll in Florida, and ensure the gateways continue to answer that call.Sheila Cox liked thisSelectFlorida Gateways Advisory Council, chaired by Board Member Nick Primrose, convened in Palm Beach County at the Max Planck Florida Institute of Neuroscience, bringing together Florida’s airports, seaports, spaceports and key transportation and logistics partners. The first quarterly meeting for Fiscal Year 2026-2027 featured updates from the Florida Department of Transportation, Space Florida and FloridaCommerce on the state’s Opportunity Zones 2.0 program and the Maritime Industrial Base. Recent missions to the United Kingdom and Taiwan were also spotlighted.

Sheila Cox liked thisWhat a great event! It was wonderful hosting such great thought-leaders in our community!Sheila Cox liked thisAn exciting evening at the JAX Chamber Transportation & Logistics Council’s Runways of Growth signature event. Keiser University was proud to support the event and take part in an outstanding behind-the-scenes tour of Cecil Airport. It was a unique opportunity to see firsthand the important role Cecil plays in Jacksonville’s aviation, aerospace, cargo, and logistics ecosystem. I also enjoyed the presentation from Mark VanLoh A.A.E., CEO of the Jacksonville Aviation Authority, who shared valuable insight into the future growth and expansion plans for both Cecil Airport and Jacksonville International Airport. He’s working hard to secure us a direct flight to Europe, which would spare us the long drive to Orlando MCO. A special thank you to Joanne Kazmierski, President of the JAX Chamber Transportation & Logistics Council, for organizing such a wonderful community event.

U.S. container imports rebounded in January to 2.32 million TEUs after the slowdown in December. Port performance was mostly positive, with notable gains in the Houston and Gulf Coast gateways. Imports from China recovered 9.3% month over month but remained well below previous highs, while Southeast Asia continued to grow as a key sourcing region. Although resilient demand remains, the shipping outlook continues to be shaped by policy uncertainty, tariff risks, and ongoing geopolitical tensions. #thefreightarchitects #jaguarfreight #logistics https://lnkd.in/gRTV9wCA
