Red Clay Creative is a boutique web design and digital strategy agency partnering with mission-driven organizations across the country. We design and build thoughtful, high-performing websites that help nonprofits and purpose-driven companies grow their impact.

We are looking for a Project Manager to take ownership of day-to-day delivery across website projects and retainers. This role begins at approximately 20 hours per week for an initial 6-month period, with the intention of growing into a full-time role if it is a strong mutual fit.

Troy and Laura, the agency owners, remain closely involved in strategy, creative direction, and overall project oversight. Your focus is on the operational details: keeping timelines moving, tasks on track, and clients informed.

What You Will Do

Lead Website Projects

You will manage the operational side of website redesign and development projects from kickoff through launch.

Responsibilities include:

  • Building and managing project timelines across up to 6 concurrent website projects
  • Engaging in client meetings and occasionally running meetings to keeping projects moving forward
  • Tracking deliverables across strategy, UX, design, and development
  • Coordinating 2 to 4 internal team members per project
  • Managing internal task flow and team accountability in Notion
  • Identifying risks early and adjusting plans when needed
  • Supporting QA and coordinating launch readiness

Manage Retainers

You will also oversee ongoing retainer clients, reviewing incoming requests, confirming scope, assigning tasks to the right team member, and keeping clients updated. You have the authority to push back on out-of-scope work; anything that affects pricing requires leadership sign-off before moving forward.

Decision Making

You will be trusted to:

  • Manage day-to-day client communication independently on assigned projects
  • Push back when needed and adjust timelines when reasonable
  • Make execution decisions without constant escalation

You will collaborate with leadership on:

  • Scope adjustments tied to pricing
  • New estimates or statements of work
  • Major timeline shifts and significant budget conversations

What You Bring

  • 4 to 8 years of experience in a digital agency or web-focused environment
  • Experience managing website redesign and development projects end-to-end
  • Strong understanding of WordPress-based builds
  • Experience managing retainers or ongoing client relationships
  • Familiarity with UX workflows, content-driven projects, and design handoff
  • Comfort working in Notion for project management and task tracking
  • Clear, confident written communication and comfort making decisions without constant escalation
  • A sharp eye for high-quality design and detail

You do not need to be a developer, but you should understand how websites are built well enough to scope intelligently and ask the right questions.

Scope and Capacity

In this part-time role, you will typically manage up to 6 active website projects at a time, serving as the primary day-to-day client contact. Each project team usually includes 2 to 4 collaborators across strategy, design, and development. You should be comfortable balancing multiple moving pieces within a 20-hour work week, prioritizing effectively, and communicating clearly about capacity.

What Success Looks Like

  • Projects move forward without leadership driving every detail
  • Retainer tasks are clearly scoped and efficiently assigned
  • Clients feel informed and confident
  • The team has clarity around priorities and timelines
  • Leadership has more space for strategy, growth, and creative direction
  • Seniority level
