Giving constructive feedback

One of the most valuable things a mentor can do is give and model effective feedback. Now, many people think they're giving feedback when they say great job, but that's just as ineffective as terrible job, because neither of those comments offer data about what to repeat or to change. Now, one of my favorite experiences highlights this. Hi, how's it going? How's the new job? It's good, it's good, Sanyin. It's just, I feel like I'm not getting very good feedback from my boss.
