- Now, how do you respond when things are uncertain or they get more challenging? How do you want to respond? In fact, it's our choice. Do you want to be fearful or courageous? Fear is a reaction. Courage is a choice. These are clearly challenging times, and so much seems to push us away from our better angels. Social media discussion is becoming more hostile, with people regularly saying things to each other they never would've imagined saying before. And it's creeping into the public square as well. With so much anger face-to-face between family members, within communities, or the political arena, we're seeing bigoted fights along political, cultural, and ideological lines. Now, it's easy to give into these destructive forces, but we must fight. We must fight for our common ideals, dignity and respect for all, equity, compassion, inclusion, and more, all basic ingredients for humanity to thrive and exist longer term as well as prosper.
