When is the event?

The Alumni Home Run Derby will take place on Friday, August 7 after our game against the Rays. Please note the game time has changed to 6:40 p.m., originally it was 7:10 p.m. The event will begin shortly after the final out.

Do I need a game ticket to attend?

Yes! You must have a ticket to our game on Friday, August 7 against the Rays to attend the Alumni Home Run Derby.

Does this event cost extra?

No! This event is included for all fans with a game ticket for Friday, August 7.

Can I go to the derby and not the game?

We are not offering derby-only tickets. You must buy a ticket to our game on Friday, August 7 to attend.

How will the derby work?

Round Structure

  • Each player gets one (1) 2-minute round and one (1) 30-second Jackpot Round.
  • Players may call one (1) 30-second timeout during their 2-minute round.
  • Players will receive an additional 30-second timeout before their Jackpot Round.
  • The clock for each round begins after the player’s first swing.
  • The batting order will be preassigned.

Scoring

  • One (1) point will be awarded for every home run.
  • Two (2) points will be awarded for every home run during the Jackpot Round.

Winning

  • The two (2) players with the most home runs will advance to the Championship Round.
  • In the case of a tie, the player with the farthest home run will advance.
  • The Championship Round will follow the same round structure listed above.
  • The player with the most home runs in the Championship Round wins the Alumni Home Run Derby.
  • In the case of a tie, both players will participate in a swing-off tiebreaker. The player who hits a home run in the fewest swings wins (10 swing maximum).
  • If they are still tied, the player with the most total points will be named the winner. If a tie still remains, the player with the farthest home run will be named the winner.
