Prior to working as a secretary for the real estate firm, I worked as a Box Office Manager at a small local theater company in Ukiah, CA. A community theater, not a movie theater, but I liked this vintage pic anyhow. If you can work with the public, you can work with anyone.

This building was erected in the late teens or early '20's (I believe) for use as a Vaudeville theater house. In the next decade, a large Michigan theater chain, W. S. Butterfield Theaters (headquarters in Lansing) purchased this and turned it into the largest movie theater in town. They also built two other theaters in Holland. The Sauconia Theatre was opened on September 14, 1940, by John Kofler, who had previously exhibited movies at the American Legion building in Hellertown. It was closed in 1966, but was refurbished and reopened in 1968 by Ellie Kofler, his daughter. It still stands and is for sale.
