Shakespeare’s original Globe theatre (known as ‘The Globe’) first opened in London in the year 1599. The open-air theatre staged some of Shakespeare’s most famous plays over the next 14 years. However in 1613, during a performance of Henry VIII, the entire theatre burnt down after a prop malfunctioned and set the thatched roof on fire. The Globe Theatre was originally built in 1599 and was the headquarters of a band of players for whom William Shakespeare (1564 - 1616) wrote. A reconstructed building was completed in 1997. Productions, as Elizabethan as regulations allow, are staged in the Globe from May to September. An exhibition is housed in the space beneath the theatre.

Ever heard of this guy? He wrote plays or something like that? Now, this is not the original theater, but it is a fully operational new version of it, located right beside the Thames in Central London.
