Usha Vance Redeems Herself In Red-Hot Dress For India Trip After Grandma Shoe Disaster

Usha Vance looked like the dancing lady emoji personified when she wore a red dress for her trip to India with her husband, Vice President JD Vance. All eyes were definitely on her as she and JD walked down the steps of the airplane, looking like a power couple. While Usha's life has changed drastically since becoming second lady, her wardrobe has also changed — this time for the better. The form-fitting red dress looked fantastic on her, and, thankfully, she left her senior citizen sneakers at home, or at least back on the plane.

Twice this month, Usha wore a pair of white shoes that looked like she stole them from a discarded bargain bin at an abandoned mall. The sneaks gave grandmother vibes, but not in the Mrs. Doubtfire "I'm a hip old granny" way, more like the last stop on the nursing home train way. She first wore them when the Ohio State football team visited the White House. They looked super out of place in a photo posted to Instagram, with all the other people in the pic wearing black dress shoes.

When the Vances went to Italy over Easter Week 2025, Usha was photographed wearing what appeared to be the same white shoes while out walking around. Comfort is great, but that footwear makes us want to scream, "What are those?!" At least she made a positive change with this eye-popping red dress.

Unlike other women in the MAGA inner circle, Usha Vance hasn't opted for hair extensions, tacky jewelry, or leather. Instead, she does her own thing (we love an independent queen) and prioritizes comfort over style. When comparing the personal styles of Vance with those of the Trump women, the second lady tends to prefer more neutral colors, and she also doesn't care if her wardrobe is more off-the-rack than designer clothing. She likes what she likes, and everyone else can just deal with it.

But those shoes were just the epitome of tragic, not as upsetting as actual tragedies Vance has experienced in life, but definitely not great. They became the sole focus, like a blinding white light people wanted to but couldn't look away from. She has the means and resources to wear outfits that don't miss the mark, and it seems like she utilized them with her red dress. Now that's how you make an entrance into a different country!
