Boston’s chocolate scene offered everything from bulk bars and Italian specialties to an all-you-can-eat buffet in a 1993 Classic Chronicle. The segment visited Dairy Fresh Candies in the North End, Modern Pastry, the Meridian Hotel and specialty chocolate shops, while earlier portions of the report explored candy production and intense cravings.
“I think they're just people that are addicted to chocolate that, you know, they're just looking for a place where they can get as much chocolate as they can,” cooking instructor June Jacobs said in the 1993 report while discussing the Meridian’s Saturday chocolate buffet. The report said the buffet featured pastries, cookies, mousses, brownies and tortes.
