Fixing Your Karma

They say what goes around comes around, and that's karma in a nutshell. But how does karma work? And how can you fix yours? wikiHow talked to spiritual experts for a breakdown:

  • Astrologer and spiritual teacher Kaitlyn Kaerhart explains karmic debt: "Karmic debt represents an abuse in a past lifetime that you're now making up for and balancing. It's not here to punish you... It's nothing to be ashamed of. Most people have at least one karmic debt number."[1]
  • Psychic, astrologer, and entertainer Joanna Gerard says that every relationship we have is a result of karma: "I believe that all of our relationships with anybody we meet, whether it's friends, whether it's our pets, whether it's our parents, whether it's our boyfriends, girlfriends, whatever, I believe that they're all karmic. And there's no mistake with that."[2]
  • Spiritual director Jennifer McVey, Cht, says that when someone hurts you, the best thing for your karma is to move on: "You don't have to work at forgiving that person, or being okay with what they did. Because who actually understands it, even if it's something simple, like they had a bad life. When that happens... you just let it go. And it's that understanding that frees you from all that karma."[3]
  • Intuitive counselor and happiness coach Kari Samuels agrees, saying, "Negative feelings that you're harboring toward another person can create karma between people. So, as you practice the art of forgiveness and training and transforming some of your anger into loving emotions... as you let go of the feelings that are keeping you connected to someone in a negative way, you're clearing and balancing that karma."[4]
  • Vedic astrologer Tara Divina says to focus on what you can control: "You can focus on the things that are working and apply the small amount of free will that we have as humans to the things we can actually change instead of trying to wrestle with something that's not right before transformation."[5]
