Ariana Grande Looks Totally Different Without False Eyelashes

False eyelashes have played a huge part in Ariana Grande's looks over the years. During her "Dangerous Woman" era, the beauty rocked full, bold falsies with plenty of volume but then opted for more to piecey, feathery, extra long pairs during her "Sweetener" era. When Grande started wearing Glinda-coded outfits to play the iconic Good Witch in the "Wicked" movies, she wore more natural-looking, fluttery ones that put the focus firmly on the outer corners of her eyes. But have you ever wondered what Grande looks like without strip or individual lashes glued to her lids? Well, she looks totally different (but equally stunning).

In a 2022 Instagram post, the "We Can't Be Friends" hitmaker left the dramatic lashes home in favor of a more natural vibe. The snap appeared to be a photo of her on a screen, but instead of wearing the super long cosmetic accessories, Grande's lash line was bare aside from a thin application of black liner and light, barely-there shadow. The star also had her dark locks in a slicked-back ponytail, which contributed to making her look drastically different than when Grande rocks her light blond hue as part of her "Just Like Magic" hair transformation.

Ariana Grande showed her natural lashes while getting ready for a music video

Though it's rare to see Ariana Grande without her long false eyelashes, she also gave us a glimpse at what she looks like without them in a 2024 YouTube video shared by her makeup brand, r.e.m. beauty. The Grammy winner not only had bare eyes but an entirely bare face (minus what appeared to be a slick of hydrating lip oil) as she got ready to film the music video for "The Boy Is Mine."

Grande reminded us she's stunning without makeup as her hydrated, sans-foundation skin glowed ("This skin is skinning," she said of her flawless complexion), but it was her beautiful eyes that really caught our attention. Even without her signature bold faux eyelashes, Grande's peepers were super defined and wide, largely thanks to her dark brown irises. Though much shorter and a little sparser than we're used to seeing on her, the superstar's eyelashes appeared naturally dark and were still visible without a layer of mascara.

Grande confirmed in the clip that she relies on temporary strips she can remove before bed over semi-permanent extensions, such as hybrid eyelashes. And, being such an aficionado, it's no surprise she put her expertise into creating her own falsies. For the music video, she applied Dream Lashes in Eternally Meowing by r.e.m. beauty. The company also offers three other types of faux lash strips, each offering differing lengths and volume. The star has preferred a glued-on pair for much of her career, as the "thank u, next" hitmaker previously wore Tatti Lashes' strips in the styles TL19, TL4, and TL21.
