The Beauty Mistake Lauren Boebert Just Won't Stop Making
We're starting to think either Lauren Boebert has no true female friends, or she's going for a '90s pageant look that never quite lands as she continues to make this obvious beauty mistake. Not only is the congresswoman known for her boldly controversial takes, but she's also known for her exaggerated makeup look. And it's not in the iconic, sought-after way like Sabrina Carpenter. Boebert consistently goes for a cakey, matte foundation look that's several shades too light. The chalky texture of the overall look doesn't do her any favors, as it often settles into all of her fine lines, making them even more obvious while washing her out under the glare of all the camera flashes. We're not even going to get into her heavily drawn-on eyebrows.
She often steps into the spotlight with an unnatural tan on top of a face-to-neck color contrast that's impossible to ignore, which just isn't the makeup look most women opt for. And some even believe her cakey makeup is so distracting that it pulls focus from whatever message the congresswoman is trying to get across. At this point, we're not sure if it's bad advice, stubborn makeup choices, or her glam team secretly out to get her, but the Colorado representative continues to double down on a makeup mistake that most of us wouldn't walk out of our homes with.
What happens when your makeup distracts from your message
Unsurprisingly, many of the jokes made about Lauren Boebert focus on her cakey makeup looks. In a viral TikTok clip of Late Night with Seth Meyers, Meyers says the congresswoman has slowly transformed into Lydia Deetz from Beetlejuice, and the crowd loses it. He even adds, "If you're trying to make us forget about the time you got kicked out of 'Beetlejuice The Musical' for groping your date, turning into one of the characters is a terrible strategy." Yikes. So, everyone thinks her makeup look is a distraction or diversion, but whether it's intentional or not, we'll never know.
As a politician, scrutiny is inevitable. However, women in politics are judged more harshly for their outer appearance than for what they say. And yes, it is unfair, but for Lauren Boebert, we have to wonder if people are trying to help her do her job. After all, it's very hard to project authority when your makeup look is the only thing grabbing people's attention. No message is going to get across when you're looking like you're wearing a Halloween mask all the time. We can only hope Boebert learns from her outfits that were complete misses and her makeup fails — not just for her sake but also to be taken more seriously as a political figure.
