Naomi Watts Outfits That Just Didn't Work For The Gorgeous Star
There's quite possibly no one as glamorous and timeless in Hollywood as Naomi Watts, and she has been a fixture on the red carpet for decades. Yet despite being known for her ethereal style, the "Feud" star often takes sartorial risks that do not always work for her. "I like to think I have an edge. I like to always be chic, and I don't mind being a bit sexy, but obviously not over-the-top sexy. I'm very into a nerdy, androgynous kind of feel as well," she told DuJour of taking fashion risks when it comes to industry events.
It's clear that Watts doesn't take fashion, or herself, too seriously. During the premiere of the 2024 film "The Friend," which is based on her character inheriting a Great Dane, the actor showed up in a white maxi skirt featuring black pom poms that matched the spotted dog, per Vogue. While this look could certainly have landed her on the 2025 worst-dressed red carpet outfits, the playful nod to her canine companion was pretty hilarious. Still, there were plenty of times Watts wasn't being tongue-in-cheek with her fashion, and sadly, she just ended up missing the mark.
Naomi Watts' structured gown started out right but ended so wrong
Naomi Watts may have been on-theme at the 2025 Golden Globes with her petal-inspired dress by Schiaparelli, but the bottom half was far from looking like a lovely rose. The top part of the gown was basic black with a sweetheart neckline, which looked elegant, albeit a bit boring. Sadly, halfway down Watts' legs is where the look began to go wrong. Instead of a flower, the layers of pink fabric oddly resembled a powdered wig from the 18th century that brought to mind images of the Founding Fathers. Schiaparelli is usually the way to go if celebs want to make a statement, and Watts made one all right, but not in a good way.
Naomi Watts went with completely wrong accessories
Naomi Watts' breezy multi-colored maxi dress with black shoulder straps was a fun choice for the 2020 Film Independent Spirit Awards. The bright splashes of fuchsia and sky blue complemented her fair skin and blond hair perfectly, and the loose fit looked comfy enough to sit through a long show. However her outfit was ruined by her white boots, which clashed horribly with her frock. Not only was her shoe choice wrong, but Watts opted for a bright red clutch that fought for attention from the dress. A pair of kitten heels in a neutral color and a black bag would have tied the outfit together nicely instead of looking haphazardly thrown together at the last minute.
The checkered pattern on Naomi Watts' dress was dizzying
Naomi Watts' face looked flawless at the "Luce" premiere in 2019, especially with the pop of red she brought into her makeup look. Sadly, her checkered green dress was completely distracting and drew all eyes to its dizzying effect. The midi frock was made in a shiny glittery material that featured a chiffon addition on the bodice that draped over one shoulder. As if the layers of checkers weren't enough, the bottom of the hem looked like it was sewn on as an afterthought with leftover fabric. With such a busy pattern, the dress didn't need so many extra details, and this was a case of way too much going on.
Naomi Watts had an overload of florals with her two-piece jumpsuit
Naomi Watts seems to be all about florals, as evidenced by her outfit at the Venice Film Festival in 2018. The actor was anything but subtle with her blue and white striped two-piece set that featured rows of roses. While we can appreciate a trendy matching set, unfortunately, this outfit gave a different vibe. Upon first glance, Watts' outfit looked like pajamas; she could have probably made a better outfit by breaking up the set and wearing either the pants or the top. Together, they looked more appropriate for lounging around the house than a star-studded event. At least Watts' white heels glammed the look up a bit, though fuzzy slippers would have been just as fitting.
Naomie Watts looked like she wore an apron to the Toronto Film Festival
Naomi Watts attempted to serve looks at the 2015 Toronto Film Festival with her lacy black dress, but unfortunately, she just ended up looking like a server. Her LBD featured a bright green apron-like addition at the waist that ended in pointed panels above the knee-length hemline. Although it gave the dress some color, the neon apron wasn't necessary and, in fact, made what was a classic dress look gaudy. We get that Watts wanted to look avant-garde, but the "King Kong" star looked like she was about to roller skate over some burgers and fries. When it comes to little black dresses, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
