[blank tape compilation] vol. 3 on Steep Gloss

■ is a blank cassette compilation (volume 3 in the series).

C40 limited edition on STEEP GLOSS

https://steepgloss.bandcamp.com/album/blank-tape-compilation-vol-3

The 10 artists were asked to submit an audio piece, with a duration of no more than 4 minutes, utilising blank tapes as the sole sound source. The pieces were then combined, top-to-tail, exquisite corpse style, to create a gestalt, resulting in the two distinct side long pieces presented here.

The artists were also asked to submit a 'blank' image, leaving the interpretation of which up to them. These images were then incorporated into the double-sided panels serving as the art accompanying the tape.

"Nothing, I suppose. Just darkness. Absolute night."
Paul Bowles

SOUNDS AND LOOKS LIKE LIFE

Electronic Cottage Project during June 2020
https://www.electroniccottage.org/hal-mcgee/sounds-and-looks-like-life

Sounds and Looks Like Life
Electronic Cottage Project
an international community audio assemblage
consisting of sounds of daily life
recorded during the month of June 2020
experimental audio folk art for the 21st Century

Audio files contributed by the SaLLL project participants were mixed by random chance procedures in an audio assemblage along with sounds from the video clips from the Sounds and Looks Like Life movie, which you can view here —  youtu.be/ZRJSVdJ9noc
There is an option for High Definition playback. Be sure to select it!

Sounds and Looks Like Life project participants are:
{AN} EeL (Canada), Aaron Abrams, Al Margolis, Andrew Dalio, Anton Mobin (France), Austin Rich, Bert Vanden Berghe (The Netherlands), Bill Northcott (Canada), Bret Hart, Charles Rice Goff III, Charlie Kramer, Chris Phinney, Colette Parisa, Crank Sturgeon, D. Petri, David Nadeau (Canada), Dylan Houser, Francesco Aprile (Italy), Hal Harmon, Hal McGee, Harold Schellinx (France), Jay Peele, Jeremiah Paddock, Joey Patrickt, Jonas Juuso (Sweden), Juan Angel Italiano (Uruguay), Judith Pauly-Bender (Germany), Justin Moore, K.R. Seward, Leslie Singer, Lezet (Serbia), Lumen K, Maozifan (Taiwan), Max Eastman, Michael Ridge (England), Mike Cosma, Neda Mehrjoo (Iran), Niniji Chen (Taiwan), osvaldo cibils (Spain), Patrizio Pica (Italy), Phillip Klampe, Rafael González (Spain), Seiei Jack (Japan), Tim Jones (Wales), Will Soderberg.
No country stated = USA.

Conceived, produced, directed, stipulated, assembled and constructed by Hal McGee, employing random chance and automatistic procedures.

The original Sounds and Looks Like Life project page, including project guidelines and stipulations, can be found here:
www.electroniccottage.org/hal-mcgee/sounds-and-looks-like-life

The 170-minute SaLLL audio assemblage has been divided into six parts for the listener's convenience.

The Sounds and Looks Like Life project is BIG and LENGTHY, almost three hours. It will take a long time to enjoy and discover in all of its fullness and richness. Please take your time and enjoy it. There is no rush. The movie and audio album will give all of us much to enjoy and savor for many months and years to come.

Sounds and Looks Like Life is a one of a kind, singular, collaborative community art project. It is joyous and strange and funny and sad and chaotic and puzzling and imperfect and a little bit noisy. It is filled with LIFE. It is difficult in some ways, and not necessarily "politically correct". We are living in odd times and SaLLL is a reflection of these odd and challenging times. In my opinion the best art encourages us to be empathetic, patient, loving, courageous, and joyous.

The spirits of dada, fluxus, cassette culture, mail art, and experimentalism can be found fully alive and breathing within Sounds and Looks Like Life. It is not easily digestible in just a few seconds or minutes. Spend time with it and get to know it and love it for the many things that it is.

Share Sounds and Looks Like Life with your friends and associates, but please be aware that some images and sounds might not be suitable for children or workplaces.

To those who have contributed

to this Necktar 2017 by bringing their essence.

To those who may give is full meaning to this Necktar,

by going further a simple listening,

if they struggle for the right to live free through their art as their lives.

To those who contributed in the past years

who have come back for give birth to this kind of audio epitaph.

Also
to the many netlabels that helped a lot this year again, amongst them :
Eg0cides Productions & H.A.K Lo-Fi Record & Earsheltering and
especially Murmure Intemporel who have already upload all the previous
volumes on FreeMusicArchive and will do it for this one despite the crazy number of tracks.
At last to those who resist by their acts, staying alive despite the slow agony of this world murdered by the dead ones.
By
dead ones I mean all kind of people who are not aware of the real
consequences of confort, safety, certainty... while they spend their
life trying to stay alive the longer they can, they only get to never escape this death state, stuck in a blind fake happyness.

The set of themes of the next volume is :

Volume n°10. 2017-???*
Unit / Solution / Infinite : Synthesis.

5) Der Domestizierte Mensch (Marvin Marvinson) "Microkaos"
Sony M-425 microcassette recorder, one (first) take, improvised with a Kaossilator.

6) Anton Mobin "Untapetled#4"
-is an improvisation with cassettes in which i develop this concept of "hand written tape" starting with a blank tape
-(more infos here; https://antonmobin.bandcamp.com/album/hand-written-tape)
- The final outcome of this project presented here is the result of an experience in several stages :
Step 1: The starting point is a blank new tape and using various engraving tools (knife, pen, needle, punch), I engrave, register, puncture, damage, twist, scratch, wrinkle, stretch, wet or/and burn the virgin magnetic tape.
Step 2: Different listenings and recordings of the side A and then auto-reverse to listen to the side B with portions of the engraving process that pierced right through the tape. The silence of the tape drives powerfully as rugged of mal-treated tape.
Step 3: From previous sound materials : preparation of different tracks improvised, mixed live and record in real time on new blank cassettes.
3 cassettes "play" are produced, one with safe original sounds from step 1.
Step 4: Improvised session Maïzing Studio Paris, with 4 cassette magnetophones + a tape head.

7) Igloo Martian: "untitled"
I used a circuit bent sesame street toy a circuit bent eq pedal my voice-an alesis wedge- my amp- a boss dd-7 delay and a circuit bent over drive pedal.

NECKTAR 2017 Volume 5

NECKTAR 2017 Volume 5
Artificial / Fusion / Natural : Union

Co-production  Le Colibri Nécrophile, Earsheltering & H.A.K. Lo-Fi Record

www.necktar.info

Connection Cassette Compilation #6 was originally released in September 2012. The original version of this compilation (still available) was issued on cassette. All contributors received a copy of the compilation on the same cassette on which they sent their contribution.

As much as possible, this cassette compilation project has been done in the original spirit of the 1980s cassette art scene.

The audio versions here were taken directly from the original contributor tapes and are higher sound quality than on the cassette copies that were issued, because there is not two generation loss in sound from contributor copy to cassette master to distributed copy. Be sure to download the full size album artwork and print your own cover. The cover artwork layout is a collage of bits and pieces and scraps from the contributor packages and letters.

CLASSWAR KARAOKE 0019 SURVEY

Classwar Karaoke 0019 survey
Published by Classwar Karaoke
August, 31th, 2012

116 contributors, 95 pieces of music, 31 short-films. We humbly dedicate this survey to the memory of the late great Lol Coxhill, who died on 9th July 2012

1-PARAL-LEL : Anthony Donovan, Anton Mobin, Kris Limbach /
Composed by Hopek Quirin. A double-deaf trial called PARAL-LEL: several artists/musicians were invited to contribute one or more tracks of about three minutes which are randomly combined – this is the first result of the experiment... editing (minimal) and mix: Hopek Quirin and Kris Limbach.

07_Elements: Composed by Anthony Donovan
In spring 2012, I began inviting players whose work I like to contribute improvised parts towards a long-term project with the working-title of 'Elements'. The intention was that each player contributes in isolation, without any knowledge about the other players taking part. After gathering a workable pool of these parts, I then began composing with these elements - processing, editing and such like - along with adding my own work. This is the fourth of these pieces, comprised of myself and six other players: 07_Elements. Improvisers: Adrian Beentjes: electronics / Matthias Boss: electric violin / Paulo Chagas: bamboo flute / Anthony Donovan: zither, electronics / Anton Mobin: voice / Sonia Paco-Rocchia: bassoon / Hopek Quirin: voice / Composer and words: Anthony Donovan. (Anthony Donovan, August 2012)

PAS and Anton Mobin 'What's Behind Time'

PAS and Anton Mobin: PAS presents: What's Behind Time : Experience 3 of 6: "Form From Light Waves" Audio: Anton Mobin / For Classwar Karaoke - Robert L. Pepper (PAS) / Additional wandering sample....PAS /

A series of 6 audio/visual experiences. The video was processed first and then the audio was added later by different artists. The video was left open to their own interpretations in the form of sound. Each video is presented separately on different links. But the presentations work as a series from beginning to end of 6 experiences exploring the below text. "It's hard to explain with words. Some explanations should be left to experience. The meanings of life are not verbal, they are felt. To express deep meaning I must communicate with visuals and sound without language. I must make a film. Colours and audio vibration, to entrap the viewer in mood, in feeling. The viewer exits after experiencing the screen with understanding and not with words. If words are used they are abstractly used for their vibrations of sound adding to the experience of art, of presentation. I leave to you "me," in vision and in sound. I leave to you a memoir of my life, in vision and in sound. I leave to you a film of my soul. Alan Watts once mentioned that people once experienced things and then made words to describe them, now they make words before experiencing them. Let's avoid words, let's have pure experience of sound and vision."

05_Elements : In spring 2012, I began inviting players whose work I admire to contribute improvised parts towards a long-term project with the working-title of 'Elements'. The intention was that each player contributes in isolation, without any knowledge about the other players taking part. After gathering a workable pool of these parts, I then began composing with these elements - processing, editing and such like - along with adding my own work. This is the first of these pieces, comprised of myself and four players: 05_Elements_01. Improvisers: Paulo Chagas, Anthony Donovan, David Fenech, Anton Mobin and Hopek Quirin / Composer: Anthony Donovan.

Words by Anthony Donovan, May 2012.
