Orphaned non-free image File:SEGUE (1983).gif
[edit]
Thanks for uploading File:SEGUE (1983).gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of non-free use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 17:49, 7 June 2025 (UTC)
Disputing Closure
[edit]I'd like to discuss why the topic of US governance was closed after a day instead of the usual week. Especially when discussion was ongoing.
Even more so when the suggestions to edit the Wiki were for it to reflect the pages of their peer nations and the factual reality of its function. There was nothing to support how its "unrealistic" to describe something as it is, especially when its done for many other similar pages. SydCarlisle (talk) 22:37, 13 June 2025 (UTC)

Switzerland
[edit]Hi,
your recent edit seems to be a bit confused. By that I mean it is not up to you alone to judge or give explanation for another editor as to why this well sourced, long-standing, section to WP:RS needs to be deleted. Please discuss this on talk page FIRST and try to obtain consensus before reverting (Drug consumption in CH is at a ‘’’record high’’’ by European standards which is highly worrisome and highly relevant for this article IMO.) Sincerely, Swissro (talk) 21:40, 23 June 2025 (UTC)
- I think we mostly agree that it's not worthy of inclusion here that's why it's been reverted by multiple people. Yes you should open up a discussion. L..... But let me help you https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Switzerland#Removal_of_cannabis_consumption_data_from_2012
Moxy🍁 21:52, 23 June 2025 (UTC)
- Between me and you (not related to Wikipedia per say). I think it is nearly IMPOSSIBLE to have those extreme stats for a country such as Switzerland without having accomplices high up in CH government (I am not “anti-government”; just stating FACTS) and also its banking industry for money laundering. This removal doesn’t help Switzerland or its people in any way over the long run IMO. (Thanks for the link to the discussion page, so I see where you come from on this topic). Page load speed
[edit]Thanks for your page redesign on Wikipedia:WikiProject Canada/The 10,000 Challenge. I noticed that you commented about the load speed in the talk page. One thing that pains me for a long time is that our Canadian challenge hasn't categorized our entries into provinces/territories, leaving it very difficult to assess the impact of the drive at the very end. Can you take a look at my old sandbox and see what's the load time on that page? And if it's slow, is there a way to enable provincial/territorial flags alongside the entries without substantially increase the load time? This would bring us closer in line with all the other challenge pages. OhanaUnitedTalk page 05:50, 27 June 2025 (UTC)
- Its a page for interested editors .....so really load time not that big of a deal I guess. Have no clue why flag icons are gone. If participates fine them useful they should be used. Easy way to help load time is cut from 1000 entries to 500 and/or have the members page on its own without transclusion on the main page ....like with Wikipedia:WikiProject Canada - Wikipedia:WikiProject Canada/Members Moxy🍁 06:06, 27 June 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks. I think one of the participant is still on 56k dial-up and page load speed was the provided explanation on not including flag icons. No idea why this was only an issue for the Canadian challenge while nobody else around the world complained about page load speed for other country/continent challenge pages (and they have way more than 13 flags). I will see what I can do with cutting down the entries to 500 per page and not transcluding everything onto the main page. OhanaUnitedTalk page 06:44, 27 June 2025 (UTC)

Question about decal on the Canadian Portal!
[edit]Hi there! A friend and I were browsing your works on the Canadian Portal and had a question! We saw your "Disability in Canada flag icon" and wanted to know what the purple stripe on both sides meant! We've never seen it before! For reference, this is the article with the decal. Thank you so much for your time and works! Burgerhunt (talk) 21:41, 24 July 2025 (UTC)
- I simply chose the newest design....The purple stripes, in particular, are not part of the original design but were added later to represent the diverse experiences within the disability community and the concept of "crip theory"......Crip Theory is related to Queerness. With that said I'm more than willing to change it if there's something wrong? By all means I'm no expert on the subject..... simply trying to make a design that's representative of current situations. Basically chose the LGBTQ2+ rights version as it been a part of Canadian law/culture since the 90s. Again.... Is it wrong is it disputed I'm more than willing to change it.Moxy🍁 21:50, 24 July 2025 (UTC)
- I don't think there's anything wrong with it! In fact, you've taught me and my friend something new today! We hadn't seen this updated flag before and it was fun reading about its history and meaning. Thank you so much for responding :) Burgerhunt (talk) 23:47, 25 July 2025 (UTC)

Some questions
[edit]Regarding this restore -
1. Is "you" @User:FaviFake (whose edit you reverted) or me (whose edit Gawson reverted)?
2. Who is the "we" that decided that one of us has to discuss first?
3. Why aren't "we" giving a reason for this requirement? See Wikipedia:Don't revert due solely to "no consensus". (Or was your link to Wikipedia:Articles with a single source supposed to be an explanation? If so, I fail to see the relevance.) - Butwhatdoiknow (talk) 17:02, 16 August 2025 (UTC)
- I suspect it shouldn't be hard to figure out using the history. Editors should reach consensus on the talk page for all edits that are controversial enough, especially for mos and policy edits. Since you mentioned me, I like the current version and wish not to change it. FaviFake (talk) 22:04, 16 August 2025 (UTC)
- Yes to talk page..... two decade old wording would need a conversation to blank. Moxy🍁 22:26, 16 August 2025 (UTC)
- We have that wording specifically for younger editors who deal with popculture articles. ..... Still trying to deal with hidden links as seen at Template:Los Angeles Rams. Have to think ..... Does removing this make out more or less clear. Moxy🍁 22:30, 16 August 2025 (UTC)
- Yes to talk page..... two decade old wording would need a conversation to blank. Moxy🍁 22:26, 16 August 2025 (UTC)
- "We have that wording specifically for younger editors who deal with popculture articles." Now that's a valid rationale for a revert. "Two decade old wording" is not.
- Meanwhile, I'm still hoping for answers to my two "we" questions (above). Butwhatdoiknow (talk) 22:38, 16 August 2025 (UTC)
- it's there for clarity..... been there for decades because of specific instances the "content editors" bump into..... but I see it was reinmented in the four other places it was removed that have much more traffic so I'm okay with this for now. Moxy🍁 22:44, 16 August 2025 (UTC)
Moxy, in your edit summary you said: "At this point we are requesting that you bring further changes to talk page first" (bold added). Who is "we"? - Butwhatdoiknow (talk) 23:44, 16 August 2025 (UTC)
- Those that wish to change the wording...... being reverted multiple times for the same edit would indicate to anyone with basic critical thinking capabilities that's it's time for a talk. Not a fan of running around back and forth games. Moxy🍁 00:57, 17 August 2025 (UTC)
- "We" made the request that "further changes" be discussed first. Why would "those that wish to change the wording" request that they, themselves, discuss the changes first?
- It makes more sense for "we" to be you (Moxy, the person who wrote the edit summary making the request) and at least one other person. Or perhaps it was just you using the editorial we. Is that what you were doing? - Butwhatdoiknow (talk) 01:45, 17 August 2025 (UTC)
- Not here to hold your hand..... if you're unable to deduce what's going on perhaps best move on. Moxy🍁 02:28, 17 August 2025 (UTC)
Here is what I "deduce" is going on: You took a quick look at the edit history and concluded (incorrectly) that FaviFake was edit warring. You reverted them, pretended that you were speaking for a group of editors ("we"), gave no substantive rationale for your revert, provided a link to an irrelevant article, and - instead of taking this to talk yourself - told FaviFake to do it. And all of that is okay, I suppose, because you have "basic critical thinking capabilities," "are able to deduce what's going on," and are "not here to hold hands." If there is any problem here it is 100% with FaviFake and me. Have I deduced that correctly? - Butwhatdoiknow (talk) 03:02, 17 August 2025 (UTC)
I keep getting pointless notifications from this thread. Butwhatdoiknow, if you want to restore it, then propose it on the talk page of the page you want to edit. Consensus shuldn't be formed on user talk pages. This discussions doesn't seem productive to me. And let's not argue using ad hominems please. Either one of you proposes the change on the talk page of the page itself, or the page remains in its current state. --FaviFake (talk) 14:57, 17 August 2025 (UTC)

Today's story - short version: ten years ago we had a DYK about a soprano who sang in concerts with me in the choir, - longer: I found today a youtube of an aria she sang with us then, recorded the same year, - if you still have time: our performances were the weekend before the Iraq war ultimatum, and we sang Dona nobis pacem (and the drummer drummed!) as if they could hear us in Washington. -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:47, 18 August 2025 (UTC)

Zagreb photos too much??
[edit]Hello,
if Zagreb has “too many images for overall lenght”, why doesn’t Tokyo has the same? Zagreb had exactly the same amount for years until you decided to put that tag, while Tokyo has 200 pictures?? I feel the tag for Zagreb is unnecessary.
thanks Croateditor (talk) 18:46, 24 August 2025 (UTC)
- Tokyo has the same problems it should also be tagged or best case scenario fixed. See Wikipedia:Image dos and don'ts for the basics.....and Canada for what we consider a reasonable amount of images.... that do not sandwich text or have so many images in a section that they extend into the wrong section. Spain's summary
[edit]Hi! I agree with trimming some of the excess from the article’s introduction, as well as removing unnecessary references that are already covered elsewhere. I had been planning to draft a summary for a few days, and this is the result—what do you think? I believe it strikes a good balance between conciseness and keeping the key aspects of the country’s history in a clear chronological order:
Spain,[a] officially the Kingdom of Spain,[b][c] is a country in Southern and Western Europe with territories in North Africa.[d] Featuring the southernmost point of continental Europe, it is the largest country in Southern Europe and the fourth-most populous European Union member state. Spanning across the majority of the Iberian Peninsula, its territory also includes the Canary Islands, in the Eastern Atlantic Ocean, the Balearic Islands, in the Western Mediterranean Sea, and the autonomous cities of Ceuta and Melilla, in mainland Africa. Peninsular Spain is bordered to the north by France, Andorra, and the Bay of Biscay; to the east and south by the Mediterranean Sea and Gibraltar; and to the west by Portugal and the Atlantic Ocean. Spain's capital and largest city is Madrid, and other major urban areas include Barcelona, Valencia, Seville, Zaragoza, Málaga, Murcia, and Palma de Mallorca.
In early antiquity, the Iberian Peninsula was inhabited by Celts, Iberians, and other pre-Roman peoples. The Roman conquest of the Iberian peninsula created the province of Hispania, which became deeply Romanised and later Christianised. After the fall of the Western Roman Empire, the peninsula was invaded by tribes from Central Europe, among them the Visigoths, who established the Visigothic Kingdom in Toledo. In the early 8th century, most of the peninsula was conquered by the Umayyad Caliphate, with Al-Andalus centred on Córdoba. The northern Christian kingdoms of Iberia launched the so-called Reconquista, gradually repelling and ultimately expelling Islamic rule from the peninsula, culminating with the fall of the Nasrid Kingdom of Granada in 1492. The dynastic union of the Crown of Castile and the Crown of Aragon in 1479 under the Catholic Monarchs is often seen as the de facto unification of Spain as a nation state.
During the Age of Discovery, Spain led the exploration and conquest of the New World, completed the first circumnavigation of the globe, and established one of the largest empires in history, which spanned all continents and fostered a global trade system driven by precious metals. In the 18th century, the Nueva Planta decrees centralized Spain under the Bourbons, strengthening royal authority. The 19th century witnessed the victorious Peninsular War (1808–1814) against Napoleon and the loss of most American colonies amid liberal–absolutist conflicts. These struggles culminated in the Spanish Civil War (1936–1939) and the Franco dictatorship (1939–1975). With the restoration of democracy and entry into the European Union, Spain experienced a major economic boom and deep social transformation. Since the Siglo de Oro, Spanish culture has been influential worldwide, particularly in Western Europe and the Americas, with Spanish spoken by over 600 million Hispanophones, making it the world’s second-most spoken native language and the most widespread Romance language. Spain is the world's second-most visited country, has one of the largest numbers of World Heritage Sites and is the top destination for European students.
Spain is a secular parliamentary democracy and a constitutional monarchy, with King Felipe VI as head of state. A developed country, Spain has a high nominal per capita income globally, and its advanced economy ranks among the largest in the world. It is also the fourth-largest economy in the European Union. Spain is considered a regional power with a cultural influence that extends beyond its borders, and continues to promote its cultural value through participation in multiple international organizations and forums.

What's your problem?
[edit]What problem do you have with my portrait illustrations? Yes, I agree that a photo would be better in all circumstances, but I specifically drew these portraits because there was no public domain or copyright free image that existed for them and I felt those people were important enough to have profile pics. Is it really better to have nothing at all? What do you dislike about them? It can't be a rights issue, because I specifically put them into public domain so that any one could use them, free of restrictions, and it can't be about AI generated images because I specifically told you I didn't use ai to draw them and am willing to supply proof? Do you just not like them and think they're poorly done? If this is the case, please tell me as I can rework them, as I did with the Kasi Lemmons and Lane Smith portraits after negative feedback. What is your issue with me? JoeBugMan (talk) 12:21, 29 August 2025 (UTC)
- Definitely odd looking Wikipedia talk:Image use policy#Digitally created images Moxy🍁 12:43, 29 August 2025 (UTC)
- So you're removing the images just because you think they're not good looking? JoeBugMan (talk) 12:51, 29 August 2025 (UTC)
- They are being removed by multiple editors because of concerns that their AI generated and or user created resulting in a Caricature type image. I think they are great just a very odd addition to Wikipedia to have cartoon type images in place of real images. Must understand this is has nothing to do with your artistic ability but related to the representation of real individuals. Moxy🍁 13:12, 29 August 2025 (UTC)
- First of all, they are not ai generated, as I have stated multiple times and I am willing to prove it. Second, they are not caricature type images by any definition, they are illustrations of the people. Third, they are not "in place" of a real image- no image (copyright free, that is) exists of these people, so I specifically created them and placed them in the public domain so that there would be an image that could be used without conflict.
- I'm glad you like them, I want people to like them and I want people to know what these individuals look like without having to leave wikipedia and google them to find out if it's the person they were thinking of (as I have often been forced to do when browsing wikipedia, a favorite past time of mine)
- Maybe this undertaking of mine was a bad idea, I just wanted to contribute in my own way, but it seems like people don't think it's appropriate. I never wanted to upset anyone, I just thought it would be good add an image where none existed and to correct anyone who thought I had generated them with AI- something I Definitely did not do and do not want people to think of me. - I don't mean to carp on it, but do you really think it's better to have no image at all than to have an illustration? JoeBugMan (talk) 14:12, 29 August 2025 (UTC)
- The question is is are these flattering and or unflattering a good representation? As a community that is trying to convey knowledge to our readers we must look at this and make a decision. It's not about adding something that is missing but adding something that is factual and a true representation. Moxy🍁 14:14, 29 August 2025 (UTC)

MOS
[edit]Hi, I'm not sure I understood your revert, could you elaborate? [1] Thanks FaviFake (talk) 16:11, 2 September 2025 (UTC)
- Are you not reviewing your edits? no section header for "Order of article elements" is the first problem I see....did not look any further. Moxy🍁 16:48, 2 September 2025 (UTC)
- Oh, i looked at the diff twice but didn't notice. The only issue was a newline, I have re-re-checked the diff and it looks good, thanks for undoing it. FaviFake (talk) 16:57, 2 September 2025 (UTC)
- Rendered article itself also looks good. FaviFake (talk) 16:57, 2 September 2025 (UTC)

Maple Leaf Award Question
[edit]Hello there, I'm here to ask you about the Maple Leaf Award. I tried to get consensus to update the Maple Leaf Award to be in line with the 10,000 Challenge award back in 2023 but that didn't seem to go anywhere.
Anyways, that's my way of telling you why I'm interested in your edits to the Maple Leaf Award, specifically you adding and then subsequently removing the bronze tier from that award. Why did you end up removing the bronze tier from the main award template, and what did the meetup discussion you mentioned in the edit summary end up yielding? Look forward to hearing from you! - Aknell4 (talk · contribs) 23:41, 2 September 2025 (UTC)
- We talked about it in a Wikipedia:IRC ..... Basically I modeled the bronze star on your work..But editors found the old ones looked more modern with the fade aspect in them..... and apparently a few decades ago they replaced the bronze with the red (I guess the red is more Canadian oriented then bronze?). Needless to say I just ended up restoring everything. Moxy🍁 23:46, 2 September 2025 (UTC)
- Got it. I feel like it would be better to replace the barnstars for the Maple Leaf Award with the 2.0-style barnstars used by the 10k challenge, but I have no idea where to even start with getting consensus on that. Thanks for the clarification! - Aknell4 (talk · contribs) 00:01, 3 September 2025 (UTC)

TOC missing on Canada deletions page
[edit]There's no TOC on WP:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Canada after your edit today. I probably shouldn't revert, and don't have the skills to fix whatever happened. Can you restore it, with the standard vertical TOC? Thanks, Nfitz (talk) 06:56, 15 September 2025 (UTC)
- In mobile view? Moxy🍁 11:30, 15 September 2025 (UTC)
- No desktop. Using Vector 2010. Let's see what it looks like in Incognito with the latest skin ... yeah, that works (looking at yesterday's version). I really don't like the latest skin because it's so narrow (looks like it was designed for a mobile not a desktop screen). But I have to admit for the deletion articles, it might work slightly better - on the other hand, the text is still only taking up half the screen width. Gosh, I hope to many aren't participating in AFD from their phones - no wonder there's an increasing lack of BEFORE! Nfitz (talk) 19:39, 15 September 2025 (UTC)

[edit]Yet you continue to reinstate a previous version, erasing essential information about his foreign policy, which, as the leader of the Italian opposition, are clearly expressed and perfectly covered by the entire Italian press, from reliable and authoritative sources. His position is also very clear in the foreign press. I've explained my position to you, and I don't think you want an edit war, especially since there are already too many wars. Best regards.--Dorian88A (talk) 20:24, 25 September 2025 (UTC)
- Let's get a 4th opinion on this..... thus far three different editors think that there's a problem with the hostile point of view wording ... left this.... anti-semite there..etc. What we are looking for is just the facts....not horribly bias editions. Moxy🍁 22:08, 25 September 2025 (UTC)
- Unfortunately, we need to look strictly at reliable and trustworthy sources, listen to the videos, as the leader of the Italian opposition, publicly express, and what her say, her political position. And her foreign policy is exactly what it is in the updated version. Best regards. Dorian88A (talk) 14:12, 26 September 2025 (UTC)
- yes follow sources...not list personal bias guess work. If you dont see the problem best leave to others. Moxy🍁 15:12, 26 September 2025 (UTC)
- on going talk about the problem Wikipedia:Village pump (proposals)#Should we have an essay or something on "Jew tagging"? Moxy🍁 13:49, 27 September 2025 (UTC)
- This discussion is pointless. We need to look at the facts, not the hypotheses. If someone has a Jewish father or mother, they are of Jewish origin. This doesn't necessarily mean there's a negative or positive connection. If someone descends from a noble father or mother, and this is a fact confirmed by reliable sources, it's said they are of noble origin. If, individually, the person doesn't fit their hereditary or cultural context, this should be highlighted in their biography. Dorian88A (talk) 15:39, 27 September 2025 (UTC)
- However, I don't have time to delve into this discussion now, I have other, much more pressing matters to deal with. Dorian88A (talk) 15:41, 27 September 2025 (UTC)
- off the bat the entry implied that because of Jewish origin their view point is out of the norm.....you then implied that others our left leaning thus statements are also invalid. We call this "Value-laden labels" Moxy🍁 15:49, 27 September 2025 (UTC)

You can improve the articles when you start diciding to undo the revisions
[edit]In the revisions 1313658605 in the artcicles country, you undid my revisions, giving a reason of copyright. TBH, this is similar to the behavior of editors who like to undo others' revisions, and I don't like it. See Help:Reverting for more. Good day. SoAnnoyedToName (talk) 12:56, 27 September 2025 (UTC)
Hi. You reverted my edit in Kingston. I created the list of dates based fully on this Wikipedia article, sections History and Military history because I like lists of dates rather than the text (Mother tongue info is taken from Statistics Canada website). If you have time and inspiration, I would really appreciate if you put links and work on formatting it, and eventually put the information back. Thank you! Andrijko Z. (talk) 23:29, 27 September 2025 (UTC)
- So to be clear you're saying all the sources are already in the article... so this just regurgitate what's above it..... If so I'm not sure this is what we're looking for MOS:LISTBASICS...will ask a few others if this timeline format is something desirable. On side note pls review MOS:UNLINKDATES. Moxy🍁 23:46, 27 September 2025 (UTC)
- Okay, whatever. It's just more suitable to read such lists for certain individuals like me, and others can contribute to such lists in the future (like it is here and here - also lists of events, where texts about history are situated (1, 2) in separate articles). It's just double standards then. Thank you. Andrijko Z. (talk) 23:52, 27 September 2025 (UTC)
- I agree this could be beneficial to some type of readers.... perhaps we should focus on making an article as we seem to have a few Category:Timelines of cities in Canada. I'm pretty sure this would be easy to source...as in the most important dates seem to have already been listed "Heritage Ambassadors of Kingston". Heritage Ambassadors of Kingston. 2014-03-01. Retrieved 2025-09-28.. Moxy🍁 00:01, 28 September 2025 (UTC)
