After the discussions about this RFC as well as taking a step back for
a couple of weeks, I'm withdrawing the RFC.

I think the initial idea is good, but ultimately its usefulness seems
too limited to me as well, and methods such as the one Nicolas
mentions with “0 + $var” seem sufficient.
