Strong partnerships help strengthen public health nutrition. This month, we’re highlighting ASPHN’s collaboration with the NANASP (National Association of Nutrition and Aging Services Programs), connecting members with valuable resources focused on supporting the health, well-being, and independence of older adults. These include tools for community-based senior nutrition programs, congregate dining, and home-delivered meal services.
At ASPHN, we strengthen nutrition policy, programs and environments for all people through the development of public health nutrition leaders and the collective action of our members nationwide. To accomplish our mission, we provide state and national leadership on food and nutrition policy, programs and services to our membership. Your active participation in ASPHN can keep you and your state on the cutting edge. Stay abreast of emerging public health nutrition issues and strategies; form new connections and partnerships with others professionals; influence important public policy and strengthen your leadership skills with ASPHN.

I am always inspired by hearing what people from different states are doing, and what the priority issues are in their state. It helps to paint a picture of what cutting edge practice looks like, and helps me determine how best to train my graduate students so that they will have the necessary skills when they complete their MPH and RD.
Jamie Stang, PhD, MPH, RDN, University of Minnesota Associate Professor, ASPHN Associate Member
I love to learn and obtain information regarding public health and how it applies to our everyday life. ASPHN has afforded me a lot of resources and tools to learn more about the importance of public health, and how you should take public health issues such as COVID-19 seriously.

Seeds to Systems: Working Towards Sustainable Farm to ECE
Tuesday, November 10, 2026
2:00 – 3:00 PM ET
This webinar will share insights from North Carolina’s High Obesity Program’s (HOP) Farm to ECE work, with a particular emphasis on lessons learned through long-term partnerships with Head Start programs.
Over the last 15+ years, their research, programming, and partnerships have included different components of Farm to ECE, including local food procurement, food-based learning, gardening, teacher professional development, family engagement, and technical assistance. More recently, HOP has provided them an opportunity to intentionally build on those experiences and consider what a more sustainable and coordinated Farm to ECE approach can look like within Head Start. Rather than presenting their approach as a model that other states should replicate, them will showcase their experiences to highlight practical implementation lessons that may be useful to other states and organizations working to implement sustainable Farm to ECE. Explore Healthy ROOTS for more information.
