Audify vs Poweramp vs Musicolet: which should you choose?
Short answer: Audify is the free all-rounder — offline music and video, 10-band equalizer, radio, lyrics, ringtone cutter, Chromecast, on Android and iPhone. Poweramp has the most advanced audio engine of any Android player, but it's paid and audio-only. Musicolet is the minimalist's choice: featherlight, built around a unique multi-queue system.

Audify vs Poweramp
Poweramp is the better choice if sound tuning is everything to you. Its parametric equalizer and per-output settings go deeper than Audify's 10-band EQ, and audiophiles have trusted it for over a decade. It costs a one-time license fee after the trial, plays audio only, and has no iPhone version.
Audify is the better choice if you want everything free, in one app. You get offline music plus local video playback, free unlimited lyrics, a built-in ringtone cutter, Chromecast casting and custom photo themes — with the same app available on Android and iPhone. The free version shows ads; a Premium subscription removes them, which is still different from Poweramp's pay-up-front model.
Audify vs Musicolet
Musicolet wins on simplicity. It is completely free, extremely lightweight, and its multi-queue system is genuinely unique — you can keep several independent queues running. If you only ever play audio and want the lightest player possible, Musicolet is an excellent choice.
Audify wins on range. Video playback, ringtone cutter, lyrics, Chromecast, gallery-photo themes, Google Drive backup and an iPhone app with CarPlay — none of these exist in Musicolet. Audify's free version is ad-supported, and Premium removes the ads if you want the clean experience.
Musicolet vs Poweramp: if Audify isn’t for you
Choose Musicolet for minimalism. Its core is free with no ads at all — the developer’s own listing promises “ad-free forever, for all users” — and it requests no internet permission, so it cannot phone home. The signature feature is multiple queues, one per folder, album or playlist, each resuming where you left it. You also get gapless playback, an equalizer with separate presets for speaker, headphones and Bluetooth, a multi-song tag editor, embedded and .lrc lyrics, backup and restore, and Android Auto. It does not fetch lyrics or album art from the internet, and Chromecast needs a separate plug-in. An optional one-off Pro purchase exists, but nothing essential sits behind it.
Choose Poweramp for the audio engine. Hi-res output, a graphical equalizer of up to 32 bands plus a parametric mode, Direct Volume Control, crossfade, ReplayGain, DSD playback, AutoEq presets and per-output settings — nothing else on Android goes this deep. It also does Android Auto, Chromecast, lyrics search through a plug-in and album-art downloads. It is a 15-day full-featured trial, then a one-time purchase of the Full Version Unlocker.
The honest verdict. If you want a light, ad-free, fully offline player and rarely open an equalizer, Musicolet. If you tune sound obsessively and will pay once, Poweramp. Audify sits between them: free with ads (Premium removes them), a 10-band equalizer, and the things neither rival does — local video, a ringtone cutter, internet radio, lyrics and an iPhone app. Details are from each app’s Google Play listing as of September 2026.
