Illustration

We have three styles of illustration which help us modulate loudness across our brand surfaces: key art, contribution graph, and textures.

System

Illustration plays a big role in our brand. Sometimes it’s hyping a big announcement, other times it’s to support a simple quality of life product update. Because of that, we have three styles of illustration which help us modulate loudness across our brand surfaces. You can read more about dithering and the contribution graph styles on the textures page.

Three examples showing different illustration styles: key art with mascots, contribution graph patterns, and textures.

Key art

Our key illustrations are reserved for big brand moments. They’re detailed, 3d and isometric. They hero the contribution graph, with supporting details like product icons, dithering patterns, and mascots to add whimsy.

Don’t feel confined to mascots hovering over cubes. Use your best judgement on which version of illustration to utilize for different activations. Telling the right story is more important than being consistent here.

Multiple isometric illustrations showing different perspectives and compositions.

Not everything has to be isometric. Occasionally stories are clearly and better told through a flat profile than through miles of cubes.

Building blocks

Like the dithering pattern or the contribution graph, these blocks represent the daily contributions developers make. Through GitHub and Copilot they can collaborate to build bigger and more creatively than they could alone. Each block has different qualities. Some have complex and secretive cryptology, others a transparent glass-like quality. By marking blocks with icons, we can represent a variety of sentiment, data, through this visual language.
