Today, Food and Beverage Canada - Aliments et boissons Canada submitted its 2026 Pre-Budget Submission to the House of Commons Finance Committee, focused on one core message: if Canada is serious about food affordability, food security, and economic resilience, we must lower the cost of producing food here at home. Canada’s food and beverage manufacturing industry is the country’s largest manufacturing employer, supporting more than 318,000 jobs and producing roughly 80% of the processed food Canadians rely on every day. Our submission calls for targeted action to: ✔️ Increase domestic processing capacity ✔️ Support modernization and productivity ✔️ Reduce energy, fuel, and freight costs ✔️ Remove outdated, non-value-added regulations ✔️ Harmonize EPR systems across Canada ✔️ Strengthen labour and immigration policy ✔️ Improve supply chain resilience “The most effective way to improve food affordability is to lower the cost of producing more food in Canada,” said Kristina Farrell, CEO of Food and Beverage Canada. “That means supporting investment in domestic processing capacity, reducing unnecessary costs and administrative burden, and ensuring Canada remains an attractive place to manufacture food and beverage products.” Read the full submission here: https://lnkd.in/e3jAbJRm #cdnagri #FoodManufacturing #FoodSecurity #cdnpoli CTAQ Food and Beverage Atlantic Food and Beverage Ontario Food and Beverage Manitoba BC Food & Beverage Alberta Food Processors Association (AFPA)
