Hello, Cheekbone Beauty community. Today is an incredibly important day for us as a business and for Indigenous people across this country. September 30 is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day. Today we honour the children who never returned home from residential schools, the Survivors who did, and their families and communities who continue to live with the impacts of the residential school system. For Cheekbone Beauty, this is deeply personal. Our founders grandmother was a residential school Survivor. Many Indigenous people still live with the intergenerational impacts of that system, including, our founder. We know we cannot change the past. But we believe deeply that what we choose to do today can help change what comes next. For almost 10 years, this community, the people we have proudly called our Cheekbone Warriors, has helped us prove that small actions can add up to meaningful change. For the past five years, our For Future Generations Scholarship Fund has helped provide 52 scholarships to Indigenous youth. This year, we collaborated with artist Darcy Bernhardt and the National Gallery of Canada to create a special lip kit, with 100% of the proceeds supporting the For Future Generations Scholarship Fund. And as a Certified B Corporation, Cheekbone Beauty commits 2% of annual revenue to the fund. But numbers only tell part of this story. There are the messages we receive. The comments. The conversations. The Indigenous youth we meet across the country. The families who come up to us. The hugs and sometimes the tears. The people who tell us what it means to see an Indigenous-owned beauty brand on shelves and in spaces where they may never have imagined seeing one before. I wish we could bottle those moments and share them with every single person who has supported Cheekbone Beauty. Because you are part of them. Every time you choose Cheekbone, wear our products, tell someone about us or welcome another person into this community, you are helping an Indigenous-owned and operated business continue this work. Sometimes it can feel like our individual actions are too small to make a difference. After almost 10 years, we have proof that they do. This November, Cheekbone Beauty turns 10. As we step into our next decade and into a new chapter with skincare, we carry everything we have learned with us. Most importantly, we carry this community with us. To the Survivors, families and communities carrying this history, we honour you. And to everyone who has stood inside the Cheekbone Beauty circle with us: thank you. You have made a difference. You are part of this story. And together, we will keep doing the work for future generations.🧡

About us
Cheekbone Beauty is an Indigenous-owned and born on social media sustainable colour cosmetics brand. Cheekbone Beauty is known for creating clean, vegan and sustainable colour cosmetics using Indigenous wisdom. Keeping in line with her Anishinaabe roots, Jenn’s Cheekbone Beauty launched a less-waste line of lipsticks in 2020, called SUSTAIN, our big vison leave a big impact on the lives of Indigenous youth while leaving less of an impact on the planet. Cheekbone’s aim is to not only make a difference in the lives of Indigenous youth through our donations addressing the educational funding gap. But mostly to create a space in the beauty industry where Indigenous youth feel represented and seen. Giving back to our community is a fundamental part of Cheekbone's mission. Our streams of giving include product donations, monetary donations, or project-focused donations. Cheekbone Beauty has donated over $150,000 in total to a wide variety of causes. This includes Shannen’s Dream and the FNCS, product donations to not-for-profits and other organizations, the Navajo Water Project, and One Tree Planted. As Cheekbone Beauty grows, so do our charitable goals, limiting the profitability of the organization. True to our roots, Cheekbone’s definition of success is not based on what you attain for yourself, but instead in what you give back to your community. The real impact is felt through the emails, DM's and conversations with Indigenous youth that are really feeling their value in the world.

Toronto, we’re coming! 🧡 I’m excited to be speaking at the Greater Purpose Conference East this October, representing Cheekbone Beauty and sharing some of what we’ve learned about building a business where purpose isn’t an add-on. It’s part of why the business exists. At Cheekbone Beauty, we’ve always believed that business can be a vehicle for change. From creating space for Indigenous representation in beauty to supporting Indigenous youth through our For Future Generations Scholarship Fund, the goal has always been bigger than selling makeup. I’m looking forward to being in a room with leaders from business, charity and social enterprise who are asking the same kinds of questions: How do we build successful organizations while creating meaningful impact? And how do we make sure that impact lasts? 📍 The Carlu, Toronto 📅 October 27–28, 2026 Hope to see some familiar faces there! #GreaterPurpose #CheekboneBeauty #IndigenousBusiness #SocialImpact #PurposeLed #CanadianBusiness

This is what I mean when I say beauty can be a vehicle for change. Seeing Cheekbone Beauty’s For Future Generations collection featured like this means so much because this story is much bigger than lipstick. Five years ago, we created the For Future Generations Scholarship Fund because investing in Indigenous youth and their education had to be part of what we were building at Cheekbone Beauty. This year, that work came together in an incredibly special way through our collaboration with Inuvialuk/Gwich’in artist Darcie Bernhardt and the National Gallery of Canada. Darcie’s artwork, Picking Akpiks, became the inspiration for our limited-edition lip collection, connecting Indigenous art, beauty, culture and education in one project. And every kit sold supports the For Future Generations Scholarship Fund. As a founder, these are the moments that remind me why businesses need a purpose beyond selling products. We can build beautiful things AND use those businesses to create opportunities for the generations coming behind us. Thank you VITA for helping share this story. https://lnkd.in/grC8rh9H #CheekboneBeauty #IndigenousBusiness #IndigenousBeauty #SocialImpact #CanadianBusiness #ForFutureGenerations
