Brad Winsor, CFE shared thisI kept coming back to this post a few times today and thought this is a great perspective on growth in business and in leadership. Well said Christina Barrett. Your leadership in the industry is certainly shining through these days.Brad Winsor, CFE shared thisSometimes success stops fitting before we’re ready to admit it. What once felt exciting can start to feel heavy. What once felt like growth can start to feel like maintenance. What once felt like achievement can quietly become limitation. That doesn’t mean you’ve failed. It may simply mean you’ve evolved. Many high-capacity people stay loyal to an old version of success long after they’ve outgrown it because it worked once, because it looks good from the outside, or because changing it requires courage. But growth often feels like discomfort first. Sometimes the next level isn’t doing more. It’s redefining what success means now. Where have you seen this most , career, leadership, business, or personal life? #Leadership #CareerGrowth #BusinessGrowth #WomenInBusiness #SuccessMindset #PersonalGrowth #Strategy #GrowthMindset

Brad Winsor, CFE shared thisAfter 30 years in leadership, one thing is clear: The higher you go, the less it’s about having the right answers… and the more it’s about influence. Influence with your team. Influence in the boardroom. Influence in how you show up every day. Recently sharpened this through a Presence & Influence program with the Wharton School. A good reminder that leadership is something you keep refining, no matter how long you’ve been at it.

Brad Winsor, CFE liked thisBrad Winsor, CFE liked this🏆 30 years of leadership — and one very special recognition. We are incredibly proud to share that our President and Co-Founder, Ian Walker, has been named the recipient of the 2026 CHFA Leadership Award. This year marks Ian’s 30th year at the helm of Left Coast Naturals, and what a journey those three decades have been. It started in 1996 with Skeet & Ike’s—making nut butters in borrowed kitchens, selling at local markets, and delivering products out of the back of a car. From there came Left Coast Organics and Hippie Snacks. A commitment to organic and natural foods before they became mainstream. Becoming one of Canada’s early B Corp businesses. And ultimately, growing Left Coast Naturals from its Western Canadian roots into the national distributor we are today. Through every chapter, Ian has remained remarkably consistent in what matters most: building a good business with good people, doing things differently when there’s a better way, and helping move this industry forward. Thirty years later, there are brands on shelves, businesses built, careers shaped, relationships spanning decades, and a natural products industry that Ian has helped make a little better along the way. Ian, we couldn’t be prouder. Congratulations on an incredibly well-deserved CHFA Leadership Award. 💚 Here’s to 30 years of doing business differently—and to whatever comes next. Brad Winsor, CFE liked thisBrad Winsor, CFE liked thisBrokers & Distributors: 5 questions I wish I’d asked earlier One of the easiest mistakes for an emerging CPG brand is signing a broker or distributor because you’re impressed by their size. I’ve worked with a lot of both over the last 15 years. Some great. Some less so. What I’ve learned: their size matters far less than where your brand sits on their priority list. First, understand what you’re contracting. Brokers sell. Distributors move product. A broker is essentially your outsourced sales team. A distributor warehouses your product and gets it to retailers. Both come in local, regional and national versions, and bigger isn’t necessarily better. A small broker who knows your category and cares about your business can be far more valuable than a national firm where you’re brand #74. Likewise, a regional distributor might provide great service while a national distributor gives you reach you simply couldn’t achieve otherwise. So here are 5 questions I now ask: 1. Who will actually work on my business? Meet that person. How many other brands do they manage? How much attention will you realistically get? 2. Where can you actually get me? Ask for specifics. Which retailers? Which buyers? Which regions? Having an account doesn’t necessarily mean having influence in your category. 3. Who else do you represent? Especially competitors. Understand where your brand will sit in their portfolio and why they will be motivated to grow it. 4. What will this actually cost me? Commission, margin, retainers, freight, deductions, fees, returns, promotions, free fills. Understand the entire waterfall, not just the headline percentage. 5. How do we measure success, and how do I leave? Set expectations before signing: targets, reporting, service levels and timelines. Then understand exclusivity, termination clauses, inventory obligations and notice periods. The biggest lesson for me has been: Choose the partner for the business you have, not the business you hope to have. A $1M brand and a $50M brand don’t necessarily need the same infrastructure. The biggest partner may not give you the most attention. The smallest may eventually constrain your growth. A national broker with 100 brands may open doors you can’t. But a regional broker with 12 brands might actually pick up the phone for you. A national distributor can put you into thousands of stores. That doesn’t mean you’re ready to sell enough product in those stores to make the economics work. The best partner isn’t necessarily the one with the greatest reach. It’s the one with enough reach, and a reason to care whether you succeed. That’s the question I wish I’d asked much earlier: If I sign with you, where will my brand rank on Monday morning when your team decides what to work on?

What started with his early days working in a Toronto health food store grew into an independent, family-owned Canadian company built on strong values and a belief that what we do matters. Brad Winsor, CFE liked thisBrad Winsor, CFE liked thisTwo awards. 2 Indigenous Cultural Openers. A new quarter pallet display. National distribution. One hell of a show. And the trophies only tell part of the Mitsoh success. Seeing Mitsoh grow across Canada while celebrating the Indigenous culture at its heart makes me incredibly proud. Ian, Brandon and the whole Mitsoh team… you’ve put in the work. And you’ve earned this. We normally underestimate what we can accomplish in one year. Especially with the right people beside us. I urge you to think bigger about what’s possible for you and your team. Then go put in the work to make it happen.

Brad Winsor, CFE liked thisBrad Winsor, CFE liked thisSo, about last weekend… We just had one of the most tiring but rewarding experiences of the year, at our second CHFA NOW trade show, the largest organic and wellness trade show in Canada. It was only a year ago when we launched our company, Pod Squad Snacks, immediately before CHFA NOW in September 2025. Back then, we were hopeful but had no idea what was to come. Since then, it’s been drinking from a fire hose. Starting your own business is not for the faint of heart. Especially in the early years, you work longer hours than you ever have in exchange for little to no pay. You are always juggling 10 balls and it’s impossible to keep them in the air. The setbacks, of which there are many, can feel especially draining and personal. But the feeling of seeing a vision come to life and generating wins, small and large, is beyond special. And it’s even better when you get to share it with your spouse. This year, we were fortunate enough to be selected by Canadian Health Food Association as one of eight finalists competing in CHFA Launch Pad for the title of Most Innovative Product. And although (spoiler alert) we didn’t win, I have to say, I am so proud of my wife, Irene Chiu, who totally crushed the presentation (clip below). She stood up and pitched in front of a couple hundred industry leaders and 3 judges, then handled their questions like a pro. She represented our company incredibly well, and most importantly, it was an amazing experience and opportunity that we will always remember. We are so grateful to not only CHFA, but all the wonderful people we met this weekend. This includes so many inspiring Canadian founders creating better-for-you products, supportive business partners and service providers, as well as all the people who came by our booth to try our snacks. It is one of those invigorating weekends that makes 14 hours of standing in a trade show booth totally worth it. See you next year! (More photos in the comments) #chfa #chfanow

Brad Winsor, CFE liked thisBrad Winsor, CFE liked thisHow it started… we were pleased have 14 brands in our Pavillion and another 50+ across the show floor with their brokers, in the greenhouse, or on their own. This was the morning of each day - before settling down a bit for lunch, and then picking up again early afternoon. Now the hard work begins! The LCG Foods “Pavilion” had over 339 lead scans and were still counting the badge photos. Maybe well surpass 500 leads. Let’s Grow! LCG Foods Distribution Canadian Health Food Association
