Matthew Laing posted thisAfter an incredible few years helping Absorb grow, my time at Absorb has come to an end. I’m incredibly grateful for the people, the experiences, and the many amazing Absorber’s and Togethetti’s I’ve had the chance to work with along the way. It’s been a special journey, and I’ll miss it. Especially all the amazing people. I'll be following closely and cheering on as Absorb continues to redefine learning through AI. I’m thrilled to share that I’ve joined Hydro One as a Team Lead, Talent Acquisition. 🙌 I’m excited to build on everything I’ve learned throughout my recruitment career, lead an awesome team, and play a part in the people and talent powering Ontario forward!⚡️Such an exciting time for industry and region. A big thank you to everyone at Absorb who made the last few years so memorable. Excited for next chapter ahead. Thanks everyone at Hydro One for the warm welcome. Let's go!!

Matthew Laing reposted thisMatthew Laing reposted thisQuality Assurance at Absorb is redefining what it means to build quality software. We develop top-down thinkers who apply their technical skills to solve not only today's defects, but tomorrow's challenges through AI-powered, Spec-Driven Development. We have moved beyond Test-First Development to defining requirements with the precision demanded by AI-assisted software engineering, identifying gaps before a single line of code is written. Our team partners daily with Engineering, Product Management, and Customer Experience to solve complex technical problems while advancing the use of AI, machine learning, and emerging technologies throughout the software development lifecycle. If you're passionate about shaping the future of software quality rather than simply testing software, we'd love to talk. Reach out to Matthew Laing our talent acquisition partner!

Matthew Laing reposted thisMatthew Laing reposted thisWhen I start working with a new BDR on my team, we quickly align on our goals. The primary goal I share is clear: "To get you off of my team as soon as possible." While this may sound harsh at first, I explain that it’s about helping them reach their next destination. I refuse to be a barrier to their progress and am dedicated to providing support throughout their journey. I've seen leaders who hold you back out of fear of losing your performance; I will not be that leader. I prefer to find ways to succeed or learn from the experience. It’s incredibly rewarding to witness this journey. I want to extend my congratulations to Abhay Danish on his recent promotion to AE! While I wasn't there from the beginning, I hope I provided the right amount of guidance and support along the way. It was also a pleasure to gather the team for a proper sendoff during your final huddle with the BDR team. On that note, we have an opening! Wanted: - NA Based (Can/US) - TRUE Outbound cold calling/prospecting experience - Adds to culture Show me the skills you'll bring here. Good luck!

Matthew Laing shared thisA recent survey highlights a pressing issue: nearly half of early-career professionals in Canada report lacking mentorship, and over a third feel unprepared due to inadequate training. This gap is contributing to higher turnover rates and slower career growth. 📚 https://lnkd.in/gbPjMCQs At Absorb Software, we recognize that effective onboarding and continuous learning are crucial for employee success. Now, with Together Software—a leading mentoring platform—employees can receive the guidance and support they need to thrive, especially in today’s dispersed and remote work environments Together's platform offers features like AI-driven matching, progress tracking, and seamless integration with tools like Microsoft Teams, making mentorship accessible and impactful. By combining Absorb's robust learning management system with Together's mentoring capabilities, we're creating a comprehensive ecosystem that fosters growth, retention, and a culture of continuous development. Matthew Laing liked thisMatthew Laing liked thisWant to gauge whether you're working with a decent recruiter vs. an excellent recruiter? Ask for a wildcard. Most decent recruiters can deliver a shortlist of candidates who match the criteria you gave them. The best recruiters know their niche well enough to see beyond the job spec. They know the candidate who may not look like the obvious fit on paper, but has the right baseline of experience, motivation, track record and the potential to excel in the role. So once you've reviewed the shortlist, ask them this: "give me one candidate you would hire if you were in my shoes." No requirement that they check every box. Just someone they genuinely believe is worth meeting. Some of the best placements I've seen in 20 years weren't the candidates who looked best on paper. They happened because a client was willing to meet the wildcard. Give it a shot

Matthew Laing reacted on thisMatthew Laing reacted on thisTurn of events this week! Sadly, my role at Thinkific was eliminated on Wednesday as part of the company wide layoffs. After six years, I have a lot to be grateful for. Thinkific has been a huge part of my career, full of learning, growth, and more interviews than I can count. But what stands out the most is the people. A special shoutout to all of my Talent Acquisition team members over the years. Thank you for all the learnings, the support, and for making work feel both meaningful and fun. I feel so lucky to have worked with such wonderful people. Thank you as well to all the hiring managers, candidates, and everyone who trusted me to help build their teams. Over the last six years, I’ve had the opportunity to grow in so many ways, from taking on new roles and expanding my recruiting experience across different areas of the business, to building recruitment processes and leading and coaching the most amazing team, one I’m so proud of. As for what’s next, I’m newly in Toronto and open to opportunities across Talent Acquisition. In the meantime, I’ll be enjoying the fall, taking a little time to reset, and seeing what comes next. For anyone else whose role was impacted, please feel free to reach out for resume or interview support! And to those still at Thinkific, I’ll miss working with you all. Thank you to everyone who has already reached out, both at Thinkific and beyond. It has meant so much. 🩵

Working alongside you, understanding your research goals and helping you get real value from the platform has been the best part of the job. Many of you became far more than accounts, and I'm grateful for the trust you placed in me. To the Indeemo team: it's been a privilege to be part of such a talented, supportive group. A special thank you to Eugene Murphy for the opportunity, the backing and everything I learned along the way. I'm moving on to a new role and will share more on that soon. In the meantime, I'd love to stay in touch, so feel free to connect or drop me a message. #newchapter #accountmanagement #customersuccess
