— In an increasingly unpredictable global economy, our businesses need the tools to anticipate change, adapt and seize emerging opportunities. This morning, at the Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan Montreal, I had the pleasure of joining Isabelle Hudon and Isabelle Dessureault to discuss how our government is supporting businesses as they grow, build resilience and prepare for the economy of tomorrow.

— Canada has what the world wants. The Investment Summit has confirmed to global investors that our economy delivers predictability, stability and resilience. But our competitive advantage goes beyond these fundamentals. Through ambitious measures, including the mega deduction, the effective tax rate on new investments is being reduced from 13% to 6.4%, giving Canada the most competitive tax environment in the G7 for new investment projects. Our government remains committed to positioning Canada as a leading player in this new geopolitical and economic era. As like-minded democracies come together to address global challenges and seize new opportunities for growth, we are reaffirming our commitment to creating good jobs, attracting investment, and driving sustainable economic growth that benefits all Canadians.

Mélanie Joly reposted thisMélanie Joly reposted thisA historic day for public health in Canada. 🇨🇦 Today, we officially inaugurated our new influenza vaccine facility at Sanofi's Toronto Campus — the Charles Best Facility. 🏭 ✅ $925 million invested — the largest single investment in Canadian biomanufacturing history. ✅ Decades of influenza vaccine expertise, now taken to the next level. ✅ A major step forward for Canada's vaccine sovereignty and domestic resilience. This milestone wouldn't have been possible without a strong, collaborative partnership between Sanofi and all levels of government — all working toward one shared goal: protecting the health of Canadians, today and for generations to come. Proud isn't a big enough word. — The trade war is entering a new chapter, and our businesses will be on the front lines. But Canada will not bend: our industries and our workers are the strength of this country, and we will protect them. That’s why we announced, last week, a new wave of concrete measures: liquidity support and a new financing stream through the BDC; tailored support, adapted to the realities of each region, through your regional development agency; and direct support for jobs and competitiveness through the Strategic Response Fund. In this context, every action counts, and buying Canadian is one of them. Choosing our products, choosing our businesses means protecting our jobs and strengthening our resilience. Together, we have the strength to get through this period and come out more united and stronger. That’s the strength of Canada.

— The world is changing fast, and every day brings new challenges. Canada’s response is clear: build the foundations that will carry us for generations. Last week, we announced the first cohort of the Eddie Goldenberg Canada Research Chairs and Impact Canada+ Emerging Leaders. The results speak for themselves — and they point to a simple truth: top talent goes where science and research are valued. That’s Canada. While other parts of the world turn away from science, Canada is doubling down. Attracting the brightest minds is how breakthroughs happen. Breakthroughs that improve the lives of Canadians and cement our place as a global leader in science and innovation. By growing our talent pool and our research capacity in the sectors that drive our prosperity and safeguard our sovereignty, we’re building the foundation for the strongest economy in the G7.

🚀 Exciting Legislative Proposal Alert! 🚀 The Parti conservateur du Québec (PCQ) has just made waves with the introduction of Bill 592, aiming to reshape the landscape of immigration across Québec by empowering regional decision-making and ending the ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach! 🏛️ 🗓️ Join us for an insightful press briefing on this pivotal moment - PCQ's press conference on February 26, 2026. 🌍 **POLITICAL CONTEXT**: The PCQ is advocating for regionalized immigration, proposing the creation of regional tables to formulate decisions directly with local input. This is a step towards customizing solutions in alignment with each region's unique capabilities and challenges, rather than a centralized model dictated solely by Quebec City. The involvement of municipal leaders emphasizes real capacity considerations like housing, child care, essential services, and workforce integration. 🏠👶🔧 💬 **DEBATE & DISCUSSION**: 🔹 Supporters: Regional leaders and the PCQ stress the importance of granting more authority to local regions, leaning on localized data for better-planned integration strategies. 🔸 Critics: The government, skeptics of the plan, argue that centralized management results in delayed responses and a lack of detailed, regional intel. 🔥 **REACTIONS & CONTROVERSIES**: The pressure is on for the Minister to accelerate the study of this groundbreaking bill. 🧩 How will we balance immigration thresholds with seamless integration, ensuring service systems aren’t overwhelmed? These are crucial talking points sparking passionate debates! 🗝️ **LEGISLATIVE & SOCIAL IMPACTS**: With coordinated regional tables working on immigration, housing, and employment, we anticipate transformative social and economic effects. However, the risk of inviting more without adequate housing and childcare facilities looms over this initiative. How will we confront these economic and integration challenges? 🧑🏭 🔍 **KEY QUESTIONS TO PONDER**: 1️⃣ Will regions gain genuine decision-making power, or just a consultative role? 2️⃣ How do we ensure transparent assessments of housing and service capacities? 3️⃣ Will Quebec City decentralize sensitive decision-making processes? 4️⃣ What's the timeline for a thorough review of Bill 592? 5️⃣ How do we balance integration demands without straining existing services? Engage in this pivotal discourse as we scrutinize the implications of giving more power to the regions and reshaping our province's immigration narrative. 💭 Join the conversation and share your thoughts! Your insights could shape the future framework of immigration in Québec. 🗣️ #PCQ #Bill592 #RegionalImmigration #QuebecPolitics #EmpowerRegions #Decentralization #MunicipalPower #HousingCrisis #WorkforceIntegration #SustainableDevelopment #FutureofQuebec #PressConference #LegislativeChange https://apdq.substack.com/
