Nick Pigott reposted thisNick Pigott reposted thisA few weeks ago we put a simple message out into the world: the best thing you can find online is a reason to go offline. Today we continue that story. The next chapter of our brand campaign goes live with the debut of a new film that shows how Pinterest inspires users to create the life they want to live, and bold new OOH placements in major US and UK cities. It's Pinterest's most ambitious paid media campaign to date, and it's directly taking on the cost of social media, especially what it's done to young people. Most platforms are engineered to keep you scrolling through other people's lives. Pinterest is engineered to inspire you to do real things in your life. We think of it as the only feed that feeds the soul. I’m so proud of Xanthe Wells, Sara Pollack, Sunny Minh Nguyen, Elizabeth Luke, our partners at Mediahub Worldwide, House of Creative, our Communications leaders, and the whole incredible team that have been bringing this beautiful and creative work to life.

Nick Pigott liked thisNick Pigott liked thisIt’s been a month since I left Pinterest, so it feels like time to share a little about what’s next. The past couple of years have been a whirlwind — a huge cultural shift from Amazon, followed by promotion to Managing Director within my first year. I’m incredibly proud of what we built, and especially grateful to the brilliant, kind, and talented people I had the privilege of leading in the UK, Ireland, and interim position in Germany. Also, I had some of the best XFN partners and global peers in the world! A heartfelt thank you to Milka Privodanova and Beth Horn for believing in me, supporting me, and giving me the opportunity to do work I cared deeply about. I’m now exploring what comes next: a few hugely exciting fractional opportunities are taking shape, and I’m also investing more time in Bio-Atelier, my passion project in NAD & longevity. Longer term, I’m looking for an AI-forward, high-growth company with smart, ambitious, and genuinely good people: somewhere I can lead with curiosity, clarity and kindness. The world is noisy and unpredictable, so I’m going to choose my next move carefully. If someone comes to mind who I should meet for a coffee, I’d be grateful for an introduction. And if you’ve enjoyed working with me, a comment or share would mean a lot. Feeling optimistic about the next chapter. Happy Wednesday.

Nick Pigott liked thisNick Pigott liked thisThe auto buying journey is more high stakes than ever - the market has become harder to win and consumer preferences are changing rapidly. Just last month, Australia delivered 100k new car sales, representing 0.4% y/y growth. Within this, EV’s have rapidly exploded in popularity, growing at 170% y/y. Making the short list is no longer a given and shaping preference early is integral. This week, Harry Basil-Jones, Serena Patel and I spoke to many of our auto partners about this very topic and how they can navigate this on Pinterest guiding audiences from inspiration to action with full-funnel creative. We were also lucky to have the presence of Amiyra Perkins in town from Pinterest LA to share best in class examples of how other Auto's are winning on Pinterest. Below are the key takeaways >>>

Two agency proposals at the same monthly number can differ by a factor of three in what they actually deliver. None of that difference is on the price page. Published Canadian retainer rates in 2026 sort into three fairly consistent bands. Roughly 1,500 to 3,000 CAD a month for one channel done properly. 3,000 to 8,000 CAD for two or three connected channels with a named strategist. 8,000 to 25,000 CAD for full service. That range is wide because a retainer is not a product. It is a contract structure. Four clauses decide whether yours is good value, and buyers rarely read any of them. Scope definition. Every line has to be countable. Content marketing is not a scope line. Two 1,200 word articles per month, published, with internal linking and metadata, is. Ambiguity always gets resolved in favour of whoever wrote the document. Minimum term and exit. Three to twelve months is normal and not a red flag, because most channels need runway. What matters is the notice period and whether renewal requires your active agreement or just your silence. A twelve month term that silently renews is a two year contract wearing a one year label. Ownership. Ask in writing who holds the domain, the hosting, the ad accounts, the analytics properties, the creative source files and the email list at the end. If any of it sits in an agency-owned account, you are not a client, you are a tenant. Reporting baseline. Agree the metrics before the first invoice, not after the first disappointing month. An agency that cannot name a metric which would prove its own work is failing is selling you a report, not a result. One more thing buyers get wrong. Dividing the retainer by an hourly rate to check you are getting enough hours rewards the agency that works slowly and punishes the one that solved your problem in four hours because it had solved it eleven times before. Full breakdown, including the four retainer structures and the red flag list: https://lnkd.in/gYWTumAP

TLDR: the industry has solved outcomes measurement. Good work team. I was at the Fifty5Blue (formerly KantarMedia) Summit in Montreal last week and got to go back to my roots, spending time thinking about things from a research, and not a product, perspective. One of my conclusions: the industry has solved outcomes measurement. What do I mean by solved? As an industry we now know what outcomes are, how they can be measured and who should do that measuring. While there are complexities in implementing those frameworks within an organization, that is about applying context and nuance, not a gap in frameworks or tools. What are outcomes? With the proliferation of digital data, the industry has been able to map a series of proxies, or signals, to revenue. Whether it’s an attitudinal metric, or a shopping funnel metric like branded search, the question is never “is this metric an outcome?”. The question has become “is this the right outcome metric to measure for me?” How do we measure them? MMM, MTA and causal methods. Yes, there are flavors of all of the above, and yes each of them does some things better than others, but importantly we know what those things are. So again it’s not a question of “what methods exist to measure my outcome?”. The question is “what method should I apply for this specific question?”. Lastly, is the question of who? In the twenty-teens the answer appeared to be media companies and platforms. Their argument was “we own the audiences that drives the outcomes, so only we can tell you precisely what’s happening.” There was an explosion of first party measurement solutions from brand and conversions lift to attribution modeling. But in the post-ITT and AI world their message has shifted to “how can we help you measure? What do you need from us to help you triangulate?” And who is the “You”? The marketer. Marketers own outcome measurement, as they should, because even with all the AI at the media and platform companies, marketers will always know their business better. More importantly they know how decisions in their businesses are made, and outcomes measurement has moved from “how do we do it?” to “how do we use it to make decisions?”, something only marketers know. Yes, vendors, media companies and agencies will all play important parts. But ultimately marketers are driving the future of outcomes measurement.
