Tara Scott shared thisI've rarely seen someone with truly equal parts hustle and heart, but Eric Holland absolutely fits that bill. I'm thrilled for him that Mojo PMM turns one today and I hope he's feeling like a proud papa founder!

Tara Scott reposted thisTara Scott reposted thisAs Higher Ed institutions and admissions leaders face mounting pressure to identify and develop cohorts who will succeed both academically and professionally, a major international meta-analysis published in the world-renowned Medical Education journal confirms the predictive validity of the Casper situational judgment test (SJT) by Acuity Insights. Key findings include: • Applicants who scored higher on the Casper test consistently went on to perform better professionally during training. • When programs measure the overlapping interpersonal and professional skills at admissions and in training, the ability to predict student success nearly doubles. • Using SJTs in admissions can help build stronger student cohorts to reduce remediation burden and improve student outcomes. “The research published in Medical Education provides the most compelling answer to date on how open-response SJT scores relate to future performance,” says Dr. Alex MacIntosh, PhD, Senior Research Manager at Acuity Insights. “When programs thoughtfully evaluate skills like communication, professionalism, and teamwork, the predictive signal nearly doubles.” Read the full meta-analysis in Medical Education, the peer-reviewed journal published by the Association for the Study of Medical Education (ASME)-: https://lnkd.in/gVyEP3xw

Tara Scott reposted thisTara Scott reposted thisIn high-stakes, real-world situations that involve pressure, ambiguity, and competing priorities, human skills are what define success. That’s where Situational Judgment Tests (SJTs) come in. SJTs don’t measure knowledge; they reveal how people think, respond, and make decisions when it counts. Acuity Insights has released a brand new report that breaks down the evidence behind SJTs–and why they’re becoming essential for both admissions and in-program learner development in higher education. Tara Scott shared thisI've been lucky enough to work with Spencer twice and call him a personal friend. If you need someone like him at your org, I cannot recommend him enough.Tara Scott shared thisI left ZayZoon in December. For most of my time there, I balanced two roles at once: Director of Product Experience (Product Design) and Product Operations. 🔀 I wrote the job description for my own second role, pitched it to HR and the President, got it approved, then kept doing both jobs because that was the only way it was going to happen. • I built the operating model, the Product Development Lifecycle (PDLC), the governance structure, career frameworks, and a lot more. • Ran the whole product org solo when the VP went on parental leave. • I built a token-first design system and coded it in Tailwind myself because we didn't have the engineering bandwidth to wait. Then watched consistency increase, delivery time fall, and design-related QA drop. • Grew employer portal conversion from 2% to 12% in six weeks while also PM-ing, designing, and coaching, then helped the new PM and team grow it to 22%. 🤝 That was normal work to me: lay foundations, coach and teach, help people succeed, grab the next thing. And I'm really proud of that. 👻 Four months later, what sticks with me is how invisible most of that work is to anyone who wasn't in the room. Nobody demos an operating model. Career frameworks don't get launch posts. They show up as retention numbers and colleague promotions that look like they just happened on their own. 📈 I'm not sure my next role is in tech. I've been thinking a lot about where I actually want to put 15 years of building teams and operations. Right now, that points toward organizations doing work I care about personally: conservation, healthcare, education, animal welfare, and accessibility. The skills aren't industry-specific. I've got an MBA, 100% team retention across roles, and a track record of building structure where there was none. Based in Calgary. Open to remote. Happy to talk if any of that sounds useful to you.

Tara Scott reposted thisTara Scott reposted thisI recently spoke with a leader from a graduate business program about where they’re seeing the most pressure right now. Their focus has shifted toward human-centric skills critical thinking, judgment, collaboration: the ones employers still struggle to find and that AI can’t replicate. What really stood out wasn’t just teaching these skills, but making them visible. Helping students measure, reflect on, and clearly articulate their growth over time is becoming just as important as the curriculum itself. Programs that move beyond content delivery and toward skills transparency are starting to differentiate in a crowded market. Curious how others are thinking about this: how do you see students demonstrating their skills in ways that go beyond grades and transcripts?

Tara Scott reposted thisTara Scott reposted thisI finally got around to reading LinkedIn's updated TOS - y'all, NO! Have you read this? As of November 4, LinkedIn will begin using your posts to train their AI tools. UNLESS you opt out. I don't know about you, but I spend hours each week writing and curating my posts. No AI used here. I share the same tips I share with my clients, tips that I have developed over nine years of coaching. I work hard to pick simple, actionable tips to help you with your job search. These tips are not meant for AI to gobble up and spit out. So I have opted out. And you can too. Go to your profile --> Settings & Privacy --> Data Privacy --> Data for Generative AI Improvement. Now toggle that OFF. And I'll be watching this on November 4 to be sure it doesn't turn on again. 👀 I'm rooting for you. 👊 ♻ Please repost if you think this advice will help others. ***** Hi, have we met? Tara Scott reacted on thisTara Scott reacted on thisOver the years, I've worked with several folks who think showing near-finished work to others, occasionally asking for last-minute feedback (often that they won't incorporate), is collaboration or co-creation. This got worse as Gen AI tools entered people's workflows. But showing people finished work and asking for feedback is a reveal, not collaboration, and the feedback you get back will be cosmetic because nothing structural can change anymore. Real collaboration means pulling people into the messy middle early enough that they can shape the outcome, not just react to it. My main recommendation to start chipping away at your collaboration, communication, or coordination is to start by fixing your retrospectives: if they don't ask hard questions and end with owned actions, cancel them and build ones that do.

Tara Scott reacted on thisTara Scott reacted on thisNot gonna lie. I was nervous about Mojo's birthday. When you launch, everything's fresh. "Congrats, you quit your job" is an easy thing to celebrate. But when you relaunch something... it doesn't have that same sparkle. It's just me, asking again. And bracing for the people who'd say no. There was a point where I almost didn't message anybody. I got so anxious, that I sent a follow-up message the night before to remind everyone And then I woke up on September 2nd... "Oh my God... people actually want to show up for me this year." The first one came from across the pond (shout out Louise Dunne) John Rougeux showed up, too. And I know how busy that guy is. Then this week, I closed my biggest deal yet. $35,000. Here's what they told me: "I know I can trust you because I saw over 30 people post about you last week." And that right there beats any testimonial a client could ever write me. So I made you this viral infographic as a "thank you" You're some of the kindest, most selfless people I know. Tara Scott reacted on thisTara Scott reacted on thisAmazing what a difference having the right audience does. This is by far the best I’ve ever done on every entry in a quilt show (every quilt ranked in at least the top 2 of its category). 1 best in division, 2 class winners and 3 class runner ups. The Evergreen state fair is basically my quilt show ICP and where I consistently shine. And it’s the first time a judge has actually really liked my Statue of David. While this feels amazing, I’ll note I didn’t hit my personal goals with this quilt (I really wanted to achieve my first best in show). I attempted a very nuanced technique that is mostly used by quilters in National level shows (it’s how you tie off threads and not something the average person would notice) and I completely failed at fully understanding the steps and probably wasted 50+ hours doing it completely wrong 😭. I had no idea that I had misunderstood the technique until after I got feedback during the state fair that I should have considered doing that 🫠 (proof I failed so badly that it didn’t count) and well past the point of it being fixable. Falling short of my extremely ambitious goal doesn’t mean I failed by any means. But sometime getting there takes a lot of learning and a lot of growth that comes from these attempts. I’ve got 1 more show this year that I’ve entered and then it’s time to start thinking about 2027. If I can get copyright permission, I’d like to take a shot at QuiltCon but I haven’t had much luck on that front yet.

Tara Scott liked thisTara Scott liked thisThanks to everyone who reached out over the weekend on my job update to CEO of Respect Sport. This is not an entirely new role - Headversity purchased The Respect Group 3.5 years ago, so I've been leading that part of the business along with the Headversity workplace mental health business since joining the company 11 months ago. But today we are launching a new chapter for Respect, building on the legacy of what Sheldon Kennedy and Wayne McNeil started with The Respect Group more than 2 decades ago. With Allison Forsyth, OLY as our Chief Sport Officer and safe sport expert, we are introducing an evolved brand built around a bigger vision for sport. Respect Sport is the company with a complete safe sport system. World-class, expert-built education plus the technology to train every role and stay on top of compliance. For me, this next chapter is about helping to move safe sport beyond checking a box. It’s about giving athletes, coaches, parents and organizations the tools to build better sport cultures every day. Building cultures where my 10 year old son who wears earrings and just loves to figure skate feels safe, included and inspired to do his best. Proud to be part of what comes next at Respect Sport!
