You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold when contributing and assume good faith when interacting with others. This is a wiki. More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). Autopatroller
[edit]You have made a lot of good work in Commons and your edits do not need to be patrolled anymore. So I just made you autopatroller. Thank you for your work! Taivo (talk) 10:14, 7 December 2021 (UTC)
File tagging File:Mayur-Paul.webp
[edit]This media may be deleted.
|
Thanks for uploading File:Mayur-Paul.webp. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). Warning: unless the permission information is given, the file may be deleted after seven days. Thank you. |

SL Photo-License
[edit]SL has a liberal permission of photography. Its is allowed generally. Could you revoke your attempt to delete those pics please? 1 https://secondlife.com/app/tos/tos.php Peli (talk) 02:23, 13 March 2023 (UTC)
- Evidence of that? You claim the images are entirely your own work, which is clearly false. If nothing else you should link to the aforementioned permission. * Pppery * it has begun... 02:24, 13 March 2023 (UTC)
- There's also the entirely separate issue of Ballet Pixelle's copyright in their dance moves. I won't be revoking my attempt, and we'll see what whichever admin handles the request after a week thinks. * Pppery * it has begun... 02:25, 13 March 2023 (UTC)
- These pics dont show 'moves' , they show stills. So where are they listed now? Where will the 'discours' be held? Why would these pics not be my own work? Peli (talk) 02:33, 13 March 2023 (UTC)
I'm a little concerned about RblxFunkyGamer. Their contributions appear to be in good faith, but they don't seem to understand how to properly license their work (i.e. what belongs here) or what the scope of Wikimedia Commons is. Some of their replies to deletion requests and other licensing matters on their talk page seem to show a lack of understanding. Could someone deal properly with this user? 118.148.82.57 02:09, 9 September 2023 (UTC)
- Feel free to take your concerns to COM:ANU. Their recent uploads seem harmless and in-scope (albeit not particularly valuable) to me. * Pppery * it has begun... 02:47, 9 September 2023 (UTC)
Removal
[edit]Hi Pppery. Why did you remove the Category:Wikimedia Foundation former staff members? I worked for the Foundation in 2017 and 2019. --Gereon K. (talk) 21:26, 18 August 2024 (UTC)
- I removed it from Category:User:Gereon K. because it was already on Category:Gereon Kalkuhl and didn't need to be on both. * Pppery * it has begun... 22:26, 18 August 2024 (UTC)
How to speedy delete a file
[edit]How can I request a speedy deletion of an author-requested file? I recently uploaded the file File:Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan & Party.png to Wikimedia Commons, but it appears to be of poor quality. I would like to request its deletion. TheBirdsShedTears (talk) 14:51, 25 November 2024 (UTC)
- Tag it with {{Speedy}}. I've done that now. * Pppery * it has begun... 16:20, 25 November 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you! TheBirdsShedTears (talk) 16:30, 25 November 2024 (UTC)
Round 1 of Picture of the Year 2024 voting is open!
[edit]
Dear Wikimedian,
Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the 2024 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year is the nineteenth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2024) to produce a single Picture of the Year.
Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year are all entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.
For your convenience, we have sorted the images into topical categories. Two rounds of voting will be held: In the first round, you may vote for as many images as you like. The top 30 overall and top 5% of most popular images in each category will continue to the final. In the final round, you may vote for just three images to become the Picture of the Year.
Round 1 will end on UTC.
Thanks,
the Wikimedia Commons Picture of the Year committee

This is a deletion request for the community to discuss whether the nominated page should be kept or deleted. Please voice your opinion in the linked request above. Thank you very much!
