Shandal is a small oasis village in Marquet, a lively stop for a desert traveler heading toward or from Ank'Harel.[1] It is the hometown of Shaun Gilmore and his parents, Opesa and Soren Geddmore.
Description[]
There are 150 to 200 small buildings[2] made of fine wood but not too extravagant. They are surrounded by tall, thin, palm-like trees that protrude from the sand, bearing large nut-like fruit.[3] There are also small troughs (at least 10 feet deep) of gathered water rain water, usually locked with a semi-translucent top or a wooden lid and chained shut.[4]
General civilians have darker skin dressed in longer, full-body robes, some of them wrapped in scarves.[5] In conversation with Scanlan, Soren said that he hasn't been in Ank'Harel in many years, indicating that Shandal is self-sustaining in the sense city with enough essential products to survive.[6]
