My advice for students who are applying to universities is to start the application process early in order to meet all the deadlines as well as students should have a backup plan for more than one university.
  • Maya Mohamad-Ali

The wonderful teachers at DBS guided me through some of the greatest but the toughest years of my life, never tiring of my infinite number of questions and always finding the time to have a little chat with us. I have honestly learnt so much during my time at school and I wouldn’t be where I am today without the people I met at DBS and the memories that I’ve created with them.
  • Manya Girdhar

One of the greatest life lessons I have learnt in just two years of university is that rejections and failures are a part of the learning process. It is completely normal to take longer than others to figure out your life – to be undecided about your university major, to find it hard to live alone and to take a long time to get used to university lectures and the content. But my impression has been that in any situation, perseverance (with a little help from others) takes you a long way.
  • Jean Maurice Meus

Applying to University sounds like a huge step, but I think it’s important to remember that University is nothing but the next step. A stepping stone for a future career - and by no means more difficult than the path you’re currently walking. University aims to provide an atmosphere where you’re welcomed for not knowing how to do your laundry, or how to cook proper food - and you’re never alone. Everyone is on the same boat, and the journey together is what University is all about. Aim to reach your predicted grades - go beyond if you can, but don’t be frightened by the idea of University and apply to one where you feel at home.
  • Camila Danzinger

My advice to students applying to universities is to look at the rank of the university. It is more important than the country, quality of education over anything.
  • Felicity Gunn Traynor

DBS alumni community is accomplished diverse and vibrant. Whether you are a new graduate or left the school many years ago, we want you to feel connected to each other and to the school. Visiting the alumni community is the way to do that.

Every story is unique, and every journey matters 🎀

This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, our Sixth Form students came together to form the pink ribbon, a symbol of solidarity, strength and hope.

We stand alongside everyone affected by breast cancer, honouring their journeys and encouraging greater awareness within our community. From starting conversations to highlighting the importance of early detection, every step towards awareness matters.

Together, we can keep compassion, support and awareness at the heart of the conversation. 💗

Bringing Books to Life at DBS Ain Khaled ✨

We were delighted to welcome renowned author Chris Bradford to DBS Ain Khaled, joining us all the way from the UK to inspire our students and bring the world of books to life.

Through interactive sessions exploring the characters, themes and ideas behind his books, students went beyond the page to discover the worlds within each story. From exploring the role of bodyguards and the idea of superpowers to investigating space and the science of gravity, Chris brought each subject to life, sparking curiosity and connecting storytelling with real-world learning.

By combining imagination, discovery and hands-on learning, the sessions encouraged our students to see books as more than words on a page, inspiring new interests, ideas and a lifelong love of reading.

What does it mean to make a difference?

Our Year 11 Global Citizenship students are putting their learning into action through a fundraising project supporting Furkids, an animal shelter in Qatar.

From developing their ideas to preparing their presentations, students are exploring how individual actions can contribute to a wider cause.

At DBS, learning extends beyond the classroom, helping students develop the responsibility and awareness to make a positive contribution to their community.

At DBS, our diverse community gives students the opportunity to learn from one another, share their experiences and discover new perspectives.

Our Year 12 IB students led assemblies, while students came together for a cultural food share, House competitions and a singing performance in another language. 🎶

From developing confidence to building cultural understanding, experiences like these help our students become confident, respectful and globally minded young people.

A wonderful celebration of the languages and cultures that make our DBS community so special. ❤️

At DBS, we believe great teaching starts with knowing the learner. 👀

As we settle into the new school year, our teachers are taking time to understand where each student is in their learning journey, not just what they can do, but what they need next.

For some, that may mean additional support to build confidence. For others, it may mean greater challenge to keep them engaged and progressing.

Because personalised learning isn’t about giving every student a different lesson.

It’s about knowing when to adapt, when to challenge and when to step back. 💙

Every child deserves the chance to learn, grow and dream. 💙

For International Day to Protect Education from Attack, our students shared their wishes for a world where every child can access education safely and without fear.

From a simple wish written on a piece of paper to a powerful message shared by many, their words remind us that education is more than a classroom. It is a pathway to opportunity, a source of hope, and a foundation for the future.

At DBS, we believe in nurturing young people who understand the world around them, care for others and use their voices to make a difference.

Because every child deserves an education. Every child deserves a future. 🌍

The last first day. The beginning of what comes next. ✨

For our Year 13 students, starting their final year at DBS Sixth Form means different things to different people.

So, on their Last First Day, we asked them:

“What would you like to achieve this year?”

Their answers range from achieving personal and academic goals, to making new memories, strengthening friendships and making the most of their final year together.

Because success isn’t the same for everyone.

One final year. Different goals. Countless possibilities.
