The drupal.org site employs some tools to prevent spam. However, no spam-fighting tool is perfect, and malicious users will sometimes be able to create spam on drupal.org.

Common forms of spam

Spam on drupal.org can take the following forms:

  • Comments on issues and documentation pages
  • User profiles with links in their descriptions
  • Editing pages to add links to them

Pages, comments, and user profiles that are possible to spam should have a "report as spam" link:

report spam link

Click the link, and the comment, page, or user profile will be reported, and the link will change to "undo report as spam" (you can click it if you made the report in error). A site moderators will check the report and take appropriate action.

Reporting spam -- creating an issue

Sometimes the situation is more complicated, and clicking a "report as spam" link does not convey what is happening. In this case, you can create an issue in the Site Moderators project to report the spam. Fill in the following fields:

  • Category: Task
  • Component: Spam
  • Title: Spam from [username] on [page]
  • Body: Include a link to the page or comment that contains the spam, and include the spammer's username
