It now has an area of 13,408.72 km2 and had a population of 301,829 at the 2010 Census[2] and 390,046 at the 2020 Census;[3] the official estimate as at mid 2025 was 452,667 (comprising 233,025 males and 219,642 females).[1] The administrative centre of the regency is in the large town of Pangkalan Kerinci, with 101,355 inhabitants in mid 2024.

Administrative districts

[edit]

The regency is divided into twelve districts (kecamatan), listed below with their areas and their populations at the 2010 Census[2] and the 2020 Census,[3] together with the official estimates as at mid 2025.[1] The table also includes the locations of the district administrative centres, the number of administrative villages in each district (totaling rural desa and 14 urban kelurahan), and its post code; of the 14 kelurahan, one is in each district (the district administrative centre as named below in each case), except that the very urbanised Pangkalan Kerinci District has three kelurahan.
