State-owned military company

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

State-owned military company (SOMC) also known as state-owned military and security company (SOMSC), state controlled military company, government controlled military company or government-owned military company, is a company fully owned or controlled by a government, designed to perform military and security services traditionally handled by state armed forces. Unlike private military companies (PMCs), SOMCs operate as state enterprises providing training, logistics, intelligence, and combat services for national interests, potentially serving as a state-controlled alternative to private contractors.[1][2][3][4]
