July music

story · music · places

Today is Bastille Day, commemorated by a DYK as my "story" and a visit to the Bastille Opera in "music". I like the interview coming with the story, on the day before the big event, but for pomp and circumstance, the affair with 600 singing children and orchestra, and the singer dressed in the national flag, was also captured on videos, much slower. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:21, 14 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Could you please watch Helena Tattermuschová (story on 13 July, still on the main page)? Vandalism, and a slow edit warrior (see also first talk page item). --Gerda Arendt (talk) 08:04, 15 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Three Ukrainian topics were on the main page today, at least at the beginning, RD and DYK, - see my talk. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 17:02, 20 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Béatrice Uria-Monzon and her story, Julia Hagen and her no story --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:22, 26 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

On Bach's day of death, I decorated my user pages in memory of his music, and my story ends on "peace". --Gerda Arendt (talk) 10:18, 28 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Question Regarding Removal of Discography Section on Dom Maker's page

Hi,

I noticed that you've removed the discography section from Dominic Maker's page, and I wanted to better understand your reasoning.

I believe the discography is a valuable part of the artist's career overview, and it helps readers track their musical output over time. If there are formatting or citation issues, I’d be happy to help improve it rather than remove it entirely. Could you clarify your concerns about the section?

Thanks and I am looking forward to hearing from you! Evaaaaaleung (talk) 13:58, 16 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hi. I removed a list of supposed production credits--claimed but not verified. Such an unverified list is a resume, not a discography. I understand what a discography is, thank you. If you want to improve that article, you can start by adding reliable secondary sources for basic biographical information, and removing the many Instagram posts. I see that your talk page is full of messages about promotional tone and improper sourcing; I suggest you look at those messages again and follow the various links; surely the advice of such seasoned editors as User:RangersRus, User:WikiMentor01, User:Moneytrees, User:Theroadislong, User:GoldRomean, User:JBW, User:SafariScribe, and User:Jamiebuba is worth following. BTW you're not using a chat bot to write these articles and messages, are you? Drmies (talk) 14:08, 16 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
    • Hi, I only started editing the discography last year, neither the page or discography was created by me, so I am not sure what do you mean by i am "promoting" on this page, the list was basically provided from the artist's side so it was a copy and paste from a credible source and streaming platforms for release dates and credibility. But I need to mention that it's unfair for you to judge my edit on the page I was referring to on this talk according to the comments for another page on my talk, as someone new to create wikipedia pages, this is a completely new area for me, i am also trying to improve and learn every time i edit the draft, that's why I am asking for help now from people who might have professional knowledges, I believe everyone editing for Wiki was not born with the knowledges and learning through their own experiences and other experienced people, i may not be a wikipedia expert like you, but at least I am asking for help now, but thank you for your advice and links.
To answer your final question - I am not a native english speaker, so I might've used grammarly to improve my writing, and learn from other people's formal writings, maybe it's the same process of how Artificial Intelligence learnt and built their own language systems. But your question has made me feel that I am discriminated - I needed AI's assistance to even write a simple message like this just because of my language barrier, so I do expect an apology. Thanks. Evaaaaaleung (talk) 14:50, 16 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
      • I’ve become aware that something I wrote may have been interpreted in a way that caused offense to some. While it was never my intention to upset anyone, I understand that people have different perspectives, and I respect that.
It’s unfortunate that this situation has become a source of discomfort for some individuals. I’ve always aimed to act in a way that aligns with my values, and I continue to stand by the broader context of what was expressed. However, if the way it was received led to any unintended hurt, that is regrettable.
At the end of the day, communication is complex, and meaning can be lost or distorted. I appreciate those who reached out to share their feelings—dialogue is important. Going forward, I remain committed to fostering understanding, even when opinions differ.
Let me be clear: I’m not dismissing anyone’s experience. I’m simply clarifying that while the impact may not have aligned with my intent, I can acknowledge that impact nonetheless. We all learn and grow, and I trust we’ll continue to do so—together.
Thank you to everyone who continues to engage in good faith. Let’s move forward with mutual respect. Drmies (talk) 14:55, 16 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
      • Watermelongal, aka Evaaaaaleung, I've looked at the message from Drmies that you refer to. To me, it just looks like asking you a question, perfectly civilly. It isn't for me to say why Drmies thought you might be using a chat bot, but if, for whatever reason, someone thinks you may be doing so, then it seems to me perfectly reasonable to ask you whether you are. More user page vandalism nonsense

User:Fortnite12482 is back making hoaxes on their user page. Check it out for me. Cheers. Lemonademan22 (talk) 20:42, 18 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

The user also knowingly vandalised Taylor Swift as seen here: [1] check this out for me as well, if possible. Thanks! Lemonademan22 (talk) 20:46, 18 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Technical question

I know i should just edit ALWAYS with the account and, like magic, would avoid these situations once and for all, but that's another history...

In your (very experienced and estemmed) opinion, what's the reason to call this edit i made vandalism (please see this https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Agus_(footballer)&diff=prev&oldid=1301833019)?! Not one week goes by i don't get six or seven of those "delicious" warnings, and it seriously pisses me off! In Salva (footballer, born 1981), i add NINE sources (TEN in total, nine before being insulted in the edit summary notes) and got the same treatment.

Attentively, your unhinged fellow editor from Portugal. Take care RevampedEditor (talk) 00:16, 22 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

  • Yes, you dumbass (and I say what with ultimate love, you know that--I'm on cocktail number x, and you should be asleep), but that's just a tag. I don't know how those are applied and we ("we") take them with a grain of salt, so no worries. If you had logged in it wouldn't have been tagged, I'm sure. Take care my friend. You know I'm coming to look for you in a few years that those beers better be cold. Also, I will require that delicious tuna, and drunk songs from all your friends in the local cafe. Drmies (talk) 00:29, 22 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  • I'm sure also you have a local version of cassoulet, and I'm eating my version right now. OK yours is probably better. Drmies (talk) 00:36, 22 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
    • They come from the Abuse Filters. Some abuse filters disallow an edit, some tag. And Filters can be configured based on a lot of properties. I don't want to say what all of the different ways we filter are, because I don't want to give real vandals knowledge of the inner workings of our anti-vandal systems. But it's not always based on content, alone.--v/r - TP 01:11, 22 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
      • Ha TParis, I missed you! Thanks for dropping by: sorry, I just drank the beer I had reserved for you. Yeah, don't tell VASCO with his half dozen retired accounts how to disrupt us even more! Srsly, we're dealing with someone here who is of such good fight, but with a temper and a love for what's correct. Hey just blocked his IPs and make sure he logs in. ;) Drmies (talk) 01:15, 22 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
        • Hey Doc. I float by from time to time and have a few weeks of activity when I do. It's nice to see familiar friendly faces around in a 'pedia that seems so different from before.--v/r - TP 01:17, 22 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
          • I hear you, and I feel you, and I appreciate you. My edit history will tell you where I'm at, but it's not just Wikipedia's fault. Listen: I know you from way back when, and you're one of the good guys. I have a bit of news that might tickle you: given a certain interview I took a week and a half ago, I can go to the post office and apply for a passport that justifies me waving your flag too. How about it? Drmies (talk) 01:21, 22 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
            • Hey congratulations! I'm about to skip town, though. I'll retire from 22 years at my current gig and I am looking to live abroad. Are you excited, though? It's something you've been looking forward too? I saw your User Page, I remember a phone call I had with DGG nearly 15 years ago now about a certain actor turned Wikipedian that was causing issues back then. DGG was a good guy!.--v/r - TP 01:24, 22 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
              • Thanks! Go for it! No, I'm not excited--it's just that I couldn't apply anymore for a green card based on marriage, if you drift where I'm coming from. I'm OK though, mostly, I think, though it hurts. Yeah, David was a good guy too. He's still in my phone record, and I met him in real life, which was a treat. Where you going? This is exciting for you! Drmies (talk) 01:27, 22 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
              • Answer and I'll slap a NOSOCIALNETWORK warning on you, MF! Careful, I still have page watchers! Drmies (talk) 01:28, 22 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
"We're not going to continue this encyclopedia until we hear the fucking roof rattle!"

I don't know about you, but I wish people would refer to things like "Spiral Architect" when reminiscing about Black Sabbath, but what do I know? Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 08:18, 23 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

(talk page watcher) Perhaps if we listen in awe we'll hear him-- Bark at the Moon. -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 10:41, 23 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Fun fact, perhaps, Ritchie, but I came to Black Sabbath only indirectly--first by way of Ronnie James Dio (and listening to Mob Rules) and then probably through Soundgarden, and through Ozzy. I was just too late to be there "live" and of course they weren't on the radio much in the 80s. I saw/heard that final show; it wasn't bad and it was very fitting. End of an era, huh. Yeah, DFO, those songs really do mark a very specific period of my life, one I wouldn't mind having back for a bit: I was all youth and no direction. Drmies (talk) 13:19, 23 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Well, he appears to have decided that the article about himself shouldn't languish for even a minute in Draftspace and has moved himself into Mainspace. He left off the {{Autobiography}} tag you added, so I put it back. Where we go from here is to be seen. Cheers! Geoff | Who, me? 17:20, 29 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there!

I know i had promised not to contact you again regarding this article, but here it goes: this account/IP (SAME person, i GUARANTEE you!) is getting beyond ridiculous, i humour/accommodate them EVERY TIME, but they still have to have the last word. According to them, to say "he participated at the Olympics" should be written in intro instead of "he won a bronze medal at the Olympics", how dumb does this get?

And i have no doubt i will be reverted again, especially when i write a heated summary to go along with my reversion, they must get a major kick/boost reinstating their version...Pathetic!!

Attentively, take care RevampedEditor (talk) 21:33, 3 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Take a look at my edits last night

All those Libyan (?) articles. You've edited some. I semi protected them for a year, but won't be around when that expires so you might want to keep some on your watch list. Couldn't figure out how to contact you on Messenger etc. Doug Weller talk 14:48, 5 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Good thing my lovely talk page is still here, Doug. But I see you found me on Facebook--note my new relationship status. ;) Drmies (talk) 18:15, 5 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
That's a casual remark: "won't be around when that expires"... Verdorie. Joshua Jonathan - Let's talk! 16:09, 5 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I feel fairly casual about it, usually. Ever so often I'm angry that the liver surgery left 2mm, but then I think about my Parkinson's and the problems that would cause for my wife, and I don't want that to happen. Doug Weller talk 16:12, 5 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Makes me think of that exchange in First Blood: "Rambo: They're all gone Sir. Trautman: Not Barry, he made it. Rambo: Barry's gone too Sir. Got himself killed in Nam, didn't even know it. Cancer ate him down to the bone." Would that there were another path for you, Doug! Geoff | Who, me? 17:26, 5 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
