Air Fryer Focaccia Bread Recipe (6 Ingredients)

Quick heads-up: This post contains Amazon affiliate links. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

This air fryer focaccia bread uses six ingredients and makes two loaves. Allow time for the dough to rise, then cook each loaf at 370°F (190°C) for about 10 minutes, flipping after 6 minutes. Serve it alongside dinner or slice it for sandwiches.

Ingredients

Lukewarm water: Use water around 100°F (38°C) for the yeast mixture, as directed in this recipe.

Sugar - This isn't a sweet bread, but in order for the yeast to activate, yeast needs to eat sugar.

Active Dry Yeast - This yeast works fast, and gives you the rise you're looking for!

Bread Flour - Bread flour has a higher protein content than all-purpose flour. You can swap out all-purpose flour, but you'll likely get a wetter batter and need to add more to this recipe.

Salt - This will bring out the flavor of the dough.

Olive oil: Mix the measured 1/4 cup into the dough with the yeast mixture. Extra oil is for drizzling; the rising bowl is lightly coated with cooking spray.

Instructions

1. In a large bowl, stir the water and sugar together. Sprinkle the yeast over the top and gently stir into the water. Let sit for 10 minutes until the yeast is foamy.

2. Place the bread flour and salt into a large bowl and add the yeast mixture and oil. Use a rubber spatula and stir until well combined.

3. Spritz a clean bowl with cooking spray and place the dough into the bowl to let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

4. Preheat the air fryer to 370°F (190°C). On a lightly floured work surface, separate the dough into two even halves. Shape into 8-inch by 6-inch rectangles, about 1/2-inch thickness. Press your fingers into the dough to create the classic looking focaccia dimples.

5. Place one loaf of dough into the air fryer basket and bake for 10 minutes, flipping after 6 minutes. Repeat with the second loaf. The cooking time is per loaf, so two separate batches need about 20 minutes of air-fryer time, plus preheating.

When done, the loaf will be golden brown and firm.

What if I have an oven-style air fryer?

The basket timing above is a starting point, not a tested setting for every countertop oven. Use your model’s air-fry setting and the rack position recommended in its manual. Keep the dough about 1/2 inch thick and leave space around it for air to circulate; a thicker loaf will not follow the same timing.

Check the top and underside at the 6-minute turning point. Rotate the tray if one side is browning faster, and continue checking until the bread is golden and firm. Heating elements, trays, and rack positions vary, so we cannot give a verified separate cook time for an oven-style model. See the air fryer conversion guide for more on adjusting time and temperature.

Can you make this easy air fryer bread in the oven?

Absolutely! Make the recipe exactly the same, but place the focaccia loaves on a parchment lined baking sheet and bake them in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.

What do you serve with focaccia?

Serve focaccia alongside air fryer chicken breast, or compare it with the other doughs in our air fryer bread recipe collection. For leftover slices, use the bread guidance in the reheating chart and check early to avoid drying them out.

Storage

I doubt you'll have any air fryer focaccia leftover (it's so delicious!), but in the rare event that you do...you can store it, covered on your countertop for up to 3 days. But as with all bread, the fresher the better.

I have one of the oven-style air fryers, with a heating element in the top and bottom. How would you suggest modifying this recipe for this type?

I've had an air fryer for so time. Can't seem to use the thing. Old school oven girl or stove top cooking. I Need to try one of your recipes, and get past this.
