The WiFi Password Recovery feature in Bruce works by performing a dictionary attack against a captured WPA/WPA2 handshake file. Here's how to use it correctly:

Requirements:

  1. A valid .pcap handshake file (captured from a deauth + handshake capture)
  2. A wordlist (.txt file with one password per line)

Step-by-step:

  1. Capture a handshake first:

    • Go to WiFi > Sniff > Handshake on Bruce
    • Wait for a device to connect (or use deauth to force reconnect)
    • The .pcap file is saved to SD card
  2. Prepare your wordlist:

    • The wordlist must have one password per line
    • WPA passwords must be 8-63 characters
    • Make sure there are no blank lines or special encoding issues
    • Place it in the wordlist/ folder on SD card
