This release closes four security holes found since v0.2.93 and fixes Wi-Fi profiles that match a network name. It's signed with the same key as v0.2.93, so it installs straight over it.
Security
- A Quick Settings tile no longer runs its task from the lock screen. The tap now waits until you unlock, so someone holding your phone can't run whatever the tile is bound to.
- Exports no longer carry a secret you typed into a "Run only if" guard or an action label. The whole guard is replaced, so a guarded action can't come back unguarded after import.
- Another app can no longer take the automation service down by sending OpenTasker a malformed push or Locale message.
- Secret values and the backup passphrase are typed on the password keyboard now, so autocorrect and the personal dictionary can't learn them.
Fixed
- Wi-Fi profiles that match a network name work again. On Android 12 and later the name always read as "Unknown", and turning Wi-Fi off went unnoticed until OpenTasker restarted. When Android really does hide the name (Location off, or location not allowed all the time), the Inspector now tells you which (#17).
- The location button in Setup works on Android 12 and later. It asked for precise location in a way Android ignores, so tapping it did nothing.
- Global variables set by a run that was cancelled or failed are saved instead of thrown away.
- Lock device actually works. Setup has a new row that turns on a device admin with the single force-lock permission and nothing else.
- About twenty smaller fixes, from Bluetooth triggers that recover after a toggle to a Setup screen that counts what it shows. CHANGELOG.md has the full list.
Added
- Write Setting, a new action that changes one Android setting by name, the way Tasker's Custom Setting does. Settings that would hand another app control of your phone are refused outright.
- Profiles can trigger on a broadcast another app sends.
- Tasker import understands HTTP Request, Set Clipboard and Write File.
- Every action in a task has "Run this action" in its menu, for tuning one step without running the rest.
Install
Download OpenTasker-v0.2.94.apk below, or let Obtainium pick it up. Coming from v0.2.92 or earlier? That build used a different key, so export a backup from Setup, uninstall it, then install this one.
