A Home Assistant custom integration for Mitsubishi MELCloud that fixes broken vane / swing position control in the official integration.
Everything else (login, temperature control, HVAC modes, sensors, water heater support) works the same as the built-in MELCloud integration, since this project is a fork of it.
In the built-in MELCloud integration, setting the vertical or horizontal vane to position 1 or 5 fails with an invalid position error. The API accepts a different string than the UI sends.
Real MELCloud values used by Mitsubishi devices:
| UI position | Actual value sent to MELCloud |
|---|---|
| Auto | auto |
| 1 | 1_up |
| 2 – 4 | 2, 3, 4 |
| 5 | 5_down |
| Swing | swing |
This integration maps those correctly and falls back sensibly on devices that do not report the current position back through the API.
- Home Assistant 2024.1 or newer
- A MELCloud account (Mitsubishi Electric cloud)
- Open HACS → Integrations.
- Menu (⋮) → Custom repositories.
- Add
https://github.com/brouwerict/ha-melcloud-swing-fixwith category Integration. - Install MELCloud with Swing Fix.
- Restart Home Assistant.
- Remove the official MELCloud integration if it was configured (they use the same devices).
- Add the integration via Settings → Devices & Services → Add integration → MELCloud with Swing Fix.
Copy custom_components/melcloud_fixed/ into your Home Assistant config/custom_components/ directory and restart.
Use your regular MELCloud email and password. No YAML, no extra options.
If your token expires you will be prompted to re-authenticate. You can also reconfigure the entry from the integration card to enter a new password.
In addition to the standard climate services, two extra services are provided for direct vane control:
melcloud_fixed.set_vane_horizontalmelcloud_fixed.set_vane_vertical
Both take a position parameter. Valid values are the ones from the table above (auto, 1_up, 2, 3, 4, 5_down, swing), plus any device-specific value exposed in the vane_horizontal_positions / vane_vertical_positions state attributes.
This project is a fork of the Home Assistant core MELCloud integration. Only the vane logic and a few surrounding bits were changed; the rest is kept in sync where practical.
The upstream integration is Apache-2.0 licensed and this fork keeps the same license.
See the Releases page for a per-version changelog.
Please report bugs or missing device values at https://github.com/brouwerict/ha-melcloud-swing-fix/issues. Including the output of the built-in diagnostics download (Settings → the integration → Download diagnostics) helps a lot.
