This happens when GitHub’s unread counter gets out of sync. A few quick things you can try:
If the number still doesn’t reset, it’s just a GitHub UI bug — it usually fixes itself after some time. |

Hey @andy-shev, this was likely due to notifications from spammy repositories and users not being correctly hidden. We just shipped a major improvement how these notifications are handled, so you won't see inaccurate notification counts anymore. You can check out more details in our changelog.
