Contribution graph shows incorrect commit count

My GitHub contribution graph and activity show 15 commits starting January 7, 2026, but my repository currently has only 9 commits. I previously deleted 5 commits, however the contribution count did not update and still shows the old number. I’ve confirmed the repository history is correct, but the activity graph remains inaccurate. Please help investigate or refresh the contribution data.

To my knowledge, GitHub does not retroactively remove contributions once a commit has been made. Deleting or rewriting commits updates the repository history, but does not affect the your activity graph, as the contributions were still authored on those dates.

Yeah thank you for giving such information. The problem has been fixed after reporting to GitHub support they refreshed my GitHub contribution graph

hey mind me asking how you contact support? it seems there is no proper category to create a ticket related to profile.

Yeah it's true there aren't any proper category for this specific problem. I used "Restore deleted data" or you can use any category for this then wait a few days they'll fix it

To contact GitHub support for profile or contribution graph issues, you can use any available support category (like 'Restore deleted data') and explain the problem. Even if the category isn’t perfect, GitHub support can still refresh your graph or resolve the issue after a few days.
