Hi,

This situation actually comes up quite a bit with international or remote students, so you’re not alone.

From the message you shared, the issue isn’t really your leave of absence, it’s that GitHub can’t confidently match:

  • your school → location → your current location

So their system assumes something doesn’t line up (especially if you’re in a different country and not marked as a virtual/remote student).

What you can do to fix it

1. Make sure your document clearly says you're remote / on leave
Your proof needs to explicitly show one of these:

  • “remote learning” / “online student”
  • or something equivalent tied to your current situation
