Unable to upgrade to GitHub Copilot Pro (Error 500) #200539
-
🏷️ Discussion TypeQuestion 💬 Feature/Topic AreaCopilot in GitHub BodyHello, I have been using GitHub Copilot Free and would like to upgrade to Pro. However, when I enter my PayPal payment information and click the next button, I am redirected to an "Error 500" page. I suspected it might be a card issue, so I tried with another card. But whenever I go to the signup page: I have already tried clearing browser cookies and cache, switching to different browsers, and other troubleshooting steps, but the issue persists. Could you please advise if there is another way to complete the upgrade or resolve this error? |

An HTTP 500 error is usually a server-side issue, so it may not be related to your browser or payment method. Since you've already tried different browsers and cleared your cache, I'd recommend waiting a while and trying again later. If the problem continues, contact GitHub Support with screenshots and the exact time the error occurred so they can investigate your account or the billing service. |

An HTTP 500 error usually indicates a server-side problem rather than an issue with your payment card. Since you've already tried different browsers and cleared your cache, I would also suggest checking the following:
Because the error occurs before the payment completes and even when visiting the signup page, it seems more likely to be a server-side issue than a problem with your payment method. If you can share the browser console errors (F12 → Console) or the Network tab response for the failed request, that may help identify the cause. |
