What does this PR do?

Adds a free educational book to the Math section in extras/readings.md.

Description

Adds "The Math Behind Artificial Intelligence" by Tiago Monteiro to the Math section of the supplementary readings.

This book provides a introduction to the mathematical foundations needed for AI and machine learning.

Covering linear algebra, calculus, probability, and optimization theory.

Why is this valuable?

This resource complements the OSSU curriculum by:

  • Bridging Core Math and Machine Learning: Connects the mathematical concepts taught in Core Math (calculus, linear algebra, probability) directly to their applications in the Machine Learning course in Core Applications
  • Free and accessible: Hosted on freeCodeCamp.org with no registration, paywall, or account required

The book is already added in other repos:

Resource details

Placement

Added to the Math section in alphabetical order after "The Art of Linear Algebra"

An interesting resource!

I see that the book was released earlier this month. And the PR to add this to the extras is being made by the book author. I'd like to see some independent recommendations of the book before recommending it to learners.
(Note that the inclusion of the book in the 4 awesome lists all happened this week, similarly on the basis of a PR from the author. None of the PRs included a discussion about the book)

@tiagomonteiro0715 I would make two recommendations:

  1. Join the OSSU discord and post about the book in the computer-science channel. Suggest a particular chapter that learners can read to get started.
  2. Work towards inclusion of the book on goodreads.com This is the largest repository of book reviews I know of, and a valuable resource to individuals assessing the value of a book before reading it.
