Chain-of-title research for federal mining claims, built around the records that actually exist
LodestarTitle is an early-stage prototype for aggregating and cross-referencing the historical document trail behind hard rock and lode mining claims across the western United States. It is aimed at buyers, investors, and title researchers who need to assess claim validity before committing significant capital.
- Pulls from General Land Office records, BLM serial register pages, and county recorder filings into a single claim view
- Cross-references assessment work affidavits, maintenance fee payment receipts, and location monument records
- Generates an abandonment risk score based on gaps or inconsistencies in the documented record
- Surfaces lapse indicators — including the 1987 FLPMA maintenance fee deadline and subsequent annual requirements — that standard title searches routinely miss
- Designed to function without waiting on BLM patent processing, which can take decades
None yet. The concept calls for connections to BLM LR2000, GLO Records (BLM General Land Office), and county recorder APIs or bulk data exports, but none are wired up in the current prototype.
The project is a single-application prototype without a production data layer. Document parsing and risk scoring logic are co-located rather than separated into services. The codebase is structured around the concept workflow — ingest documents, resolve claim identity across sources, score abandonment risk — but the infrastructure to support real data volume is not yet built.
