Official Transcripts Policy

For Students Who Submitted Unofficial Transcripts for the Application Process:

  • If an applicant submitted unofficial transcript(s) (student copy, or incomplete (degree in progress), or transcripts submitted to us from a non-school email (e.g., gmail, yahoo, etc.) for application review purposes, and is admitted into a program and matriculates at USU:
    • Official transcript(s) (transcripts that are degree verified with the award/conferral date are sent directly from the student’s previous institution(s) to Utah State University Graduate Admissions by email or mail or brought to us in person by the applicant in a sealed, unopened envelope from the student’s school(s) sent directly from each issuing institution to the School of Graduate Studies will be required within the first semester of attendance.
  • If the student’s degree verification was not listed on their transcript(s) at the time of application, they will be contacted and asked to provide this after admittance.
    • Any student that does not provide official transcripts within the allotted timeframe will have a hold put on their student account by the end of their first semester, preventing future course registration.
    • This hold will be removed when the School of Graduate Studies receives the student’s official transcript with the degree verification.

The policies regarding graduate admissions and transcripts can be referenced directly in Section A of the SGS Catalog.

If students have any questions after reading this information, they can email questions to the School of Graduate Studies Admissions Team at graduateadmissions@usu.edu.
