Questions about two or more of the pastoral epistles of Paul (1 Timothy, 2 Timothy, Titus, and Philemon)

The New Testament books collecting the letters of Paul to church leaders -- 1 Timothy, 2 Timothy, Titus, and Philemon -- are known as the pastorals.

These letters, unlike most of Paul's preserved writings, are written to individuals, not to a church (or group of churches). As such, much of the counsel provided is very specific. Paul is seeking to shepherd the churches and provide guidance in church-leadership to those he has appointed to positions of responsibility.

*Note that sometimes Philemon is considered a pastoral epistle and sometimes it is not. The context of Philemon is somewhat different from that of the epistles to Timothy and Titus. See tag for Philemon.

Use this tag when talking about the pastorals as a group; use the book tags when talking about specifica passages (, , , ).
